Lol Saunders should be plan B.
GGG vs. Canelo II has to happen in 2018.
Saunders is terrible. He's a tune up fight for GGG, Jacobs or Canelo. Him having a belt and being a Brit are his only two selling points. Trash talk only works if you're a decent fighter.Comment

Obviously, but Lara, cowardly nemesis of Canelo, also had it for a GGG fight.
If he admits Canelo schooled GGG it will almost be the same as admitting Canelo did just as good or better than he did.
Jacobs wana be 'thee guy' that gave Golovkin all he can handle.Comment

Styles make fights, and Canelo was made to be outpointed by a tall, fast southpaw with good movement and a long, accurate jab, like BJS. Anywhere except Vegas, BJS beats Canelo, and he beats him easily.Comment

But still not sure how it works out now with Canelo saying he won't fight until next May/September and Cotto saying a last fight in December.
Meantime both Saunders and Cotto saying they will fight in Dec.
Starts to make sense if Saunders calls Cotto and asks 'what weight to see you in Vegas for the WBO belt ?'. Cotto might be tempted at the chance to go out with another belt vs a drained Saunders, and Saunders gets a payday without getting humiliated and pounded by Golovkin.
But Golovkin in Kazakhstan early year could also be on as it meets Golovkin's desire for a home match; the WBO belt, and the payday Saunders wants.
Golovkin could certainly do both Saunders early year and Canelo in September if that's how Canelo wants to play it, even May. And I wonder if it might be ok with Canelo if Golovkin risks his belts vs another in the meantime. Canelo has been non-committal on the rematch, but that might be just part of his normal delegation of all fight decisions to his business team, meantime saying 'if the fans want it'. His team then say they will sit down with him to see what he wants, so he presumably gets a say, and we wait to see what that is.
Canelo might not want a rematch. He can make money fighting anyone, and another Golovkin fight might be viewed as potentially damaging to his longevity, ie he gets to fight less later on - we just don't know yet. Now that we have seen Canelo v GGG, I for one have less desire to see it again instead of seeing Golovkin get the WBO belt and maybe go for someone like Charlo or a Jacobs rematch. It depends as Canelo holds the rematch clause in his hands, and how much GGG would want to pursue it for that last big payday.
We'll see soon I guess.Comment

This was always going to be problem with a Canelo v GGG II, as it would mean passing up easy money for Canelo v Cotto II.
