Most fighters lost a little something as they moved up in weight. Manny looked like he was stronger and more dangerous. I mean the guy that got dropped by Nedal Hussein and was being manhandled by Agapito Sanchez was now running through Hatton, DelaHoya and Cotto. Three guys that Floyd respected. He thought something was up. A clean guy calls his bluff takes the test and runs through him too. But instead we heard some many excuses. It was just bizarre. Floyd signed for the fight in December, why would he ever think Manny would refuse to take the test?

But that's all history. This scared narrative made Mayweather the richest fighter ever. It helped him and hurt Manny.

Most people say that Floyd waited for Manny to get knocked out for the fight to be made. They completely ignore that it took Floyd to look vulnerable against Maidana for the fight to be made.
I don't think Floyd was afraid to be hurt, but yea he was afraid to fight prime Manny. Otherwise, he wouldn't have dodged the fight if Manny wouldn't do ped testing when he didn't have the same reservations for other fighters.

    • sneaky ass floyd! been posturing for years LOL

Floyd Mayweather Jr.’s crafty, well-plotted style in the boxing ring carried over to his decision of choosing when to fight*Manny Pacquiao*too, he said.

At his gym Tuesday, on media day for a fight that is expected to destroy pay-per-view and live-gate records, Mayweather (47-0, 26 knockouts) detailed why he finally agreed to fight the record eight-division champion from the Philippines.

Everything in life is about timing,” Mayweather said. “I don’t regret anything. The time is now.

“Before, I don’t think this fight was as big as this. With me going out there getting bigger and bigger, not just in boxing, but outside the sport, and him stepping outside boxing and continuing to grow outside the sport, the names are much bigger now than they were before.

You can’t rush everything in life. Certain things aren’t meant to be [rushed].”

"certain things arent meant to be rushed"

well played floyd, well played. no wonder why when the fight was finally made in 2015, all of a sudden "i will never do business with bob arum", "as soon as he leaves TR and bob arum then we have a fight" all went out the window!!

floyd was posturing for years acting like he wanted the fight but he was secretly stalling it until "its the right time"

floyd is low to no-risk, high reward reward man admit it...the pattern has been established a long time ago...

fought pac when the risk was at its absolute lowest, same with cotto, shane, and no way you can sidestep conor mcgregor for a sanctioned 50th fight, a guy with a record of 0-0.
The article you posted a snippet from refutes the point you make in the 1st paragraph. You are literally picking pieces out of sources that fit your argument.

If you believe he is no risk, then the fact he signed to fight in December 09 shows he thought Manny was easy. Again, the article you fot your snippet from shows this.

I'm fine if you feel asking for PED testing is problematic. Doesn't change the fact or justify Manny refusing to fight him.

He fought them as soon as they agreed to fight. If that is Floyd's fault in your mind, so be it.

          Karma baby!!!!

That doesn't make him the greatest. Just makes him fortunate to be able to maximize his earning potential. That's what happens when you win the biggest fight ever.

The fact Manny is an espn fighter is karma! See real boxing fans hold him accountable for his actions. Wish you'd try doing same.

You can't sign a contract and dodge a fight at the same time. That's impossible.

Manny put the 10 million dollar weight limit clause? Why?

Floyd signed that. Agreed to 50/50. Compromised of random testing. How is the man who signed the dodger?

"We all know the Pacquiao fight, at this particular time, will never happen, and the reason why the fight won't happen is because I will never do business with Bob Arum again in life, and Pacquiao is Bob Arum's fighter. Bob Arum gives Pacquiao a date, whereas Floyd Mayweather gives Floyd Mayweather his own date. I will be fighting again in May and I will be fighting again in September. I'm gonna give you two reasons the Pacquiao fight is not going to happen. Like I said before, I will never do business with Bob Arum in life, but I don't wish him nothing bad,"

because floyd actually came over weight for marquez at 144!!! and paid a fee for it!

manny never tested positive for anything. that's the difference.

The point is, if Floyd didn't want to fight he could've balked at this. He could've made a stink about 50/50. But he didn't he signed for the fight.
