How many of the fights aired on premium cable or a major network?

Don't recall, but he's posted them all on facebook & his probably reached more people with his social presence in his 21 months as a pro than a promoter would get him in 21 months.

He taking a different route with its own different pluses & minuses. But he's navigating it better than most other cats in his position thus far. They easily could f#ck it up at some future date doe so who knows.

They are free agents lol. Thats maybe the problem. If they had a promoter the promoter would be lining sh^t up.

It seems to me like the way Haymon works is a bit of a clusterf#ck to avoid breaking the Muhammad Ali Act. From most accounts he asks you who you wanna fight & who you can think you can beat. From that list he helps you find the best option with one of these PBC friendly promoters. Then he seemingly pays the promoter a flat fee to promote his fighters bout. A promoter has lil upside in promoting a guy or making room for him on his schedule one would even think. And they actually seem to have PBC dates or they turn the promoters already acquired date into a PBC date.

I'd be curious to the inner workings of how PBC/Haymon operates to know what is the major malfunction with this concept cuz there is clearly a problem.

And it could just be shear number of fighters to. I mean Devin Haney & his dad are going the no promoter route & he's got 16 fights in 21 months as a pro & never seems to have much of a problem getting on random promoter cards. He's been on Top Rank, Roy Jones Boxing, Main Events, Peltz Boxing & GH3 cards.

I think these PBC fighters got used to being treated like they're working at Google or Microsoft or something.
They're afraid to jump ship thinking the good old days would come back.
I believe Leo Santa Cruz, for example, is missing those good old days and thus fighting another subpar opponent after turning down the Mares rematch.
When Haymon took full control, who would have thought guys like Rod Salka, Bundu, LeoSantaCruz sparring partners, etc. even existed? It was clear back then that his top fighters would be lining up nobodies and get overpaid.
That's what these PBC fighters were still looking for.
But things have changed. I believe most of them were offered tougher fights but the money wasn't there, thus refuse to fight.

Arum had to leave HBO to get dates because they're budget is so tight so they wouldn't get dates over there. Haymon already has all the available Showtime dates so signing with a promoter wouldn't change anything at showtime. The other dates he's putting on FS1 and FOX/CBS/Bounce.

So where are these dates going to come from if the fighters signed with a promoter?

That's why Espinoza should step up and start siphoning off the truckloads of money
they made from the circus fight to their regular boxing.
I don't even think Espinoza cares about the PBC situation.
HBO's majority of subscribers are non boxing fans while Showtime's are.
Just imagine paying monthly on Showtime and there's hardly any fight shown.

I'd assume DiBella with a Spence, Thurman & Wilder legitly signed to his promotion would have a hell of an easier time securing TV dates.

But yea I get your overall point that Haymon seems to have the ear & confidence of Showtime more than any of these other actual promoters do so why would his fighters necessarily need them in the first place.

But clearly SOMETHING is wrong that needs to get worked out cuz this has been one of many issues with how Haymon fighters get moved through boxing. They have lil narrative like a promoter will tend to steer for a fighter they've got signed + they are always moving him forward.

Meanwhile Haymon fighters are always in limbo til they pop up with a fight in 6 weeks or less. Thats not how you move fighters in this age of hype & social media. I've been saying this since virtually day 1, but PBC/Haymon needs an actual mouthpiece with the media to control the narrative of his fighters & to have around to answer media & fan questions & primarily to keep PBC fighters relevant when they don't have a fight.

I do agree they need a mouthpiece. One of the reasons Haymon is attacked so much is because people know he's not going to respond. You don't see them attacking J. Prince like that.......

I admire your concern.

Hopefully Crawford fights again this year to make it three times. Hopefully Pacquiao fights to make it two. Hopefully Jessie Vargas fights at all this year. Hopefully Andy Ruiz finds a ring this year too. Hopefully Bryant Jennings gets more than one fight this year. Hopefully Felix Verdejo gets a second fight in 2017. Looks like Gilberto Ramirez will fight twice this year, the amount you feel isn't enough. Same for Jesse Hart. And Jessie Magdaleno. And Hughie Fury. And Miguel Marriaga. And Mike Alvarado. And Oscar Valdez. And Ray Beltran. The list goes on.

What's sad is that Top Rank has far less fighters yet they're so many who won't fight 3-4 times this year. Their biggest star won't fight more than once. Shocker. But that's boxing for you. I wish everyone was as busy as a Loma. But it's an issue across the board, in spite of your best wishes to point the finger in one direction.
