I would see it as an excuse, if Floyd, would've said, " Conors not going to land anything, I'm going to win this in a run away fashion." From day one he said he would take some blows because he was going to come at Conor the entire night and that's what he did. I'm sure you and I, could've hit Mayweather as many times as Conor, if he stood directly in front of us.

In some peoples opinions he did win the 4th. It was a close round. I gave it to Floyd but it was razor close. I also gave Conor the 6th and 8th rounds, which were also close. That's 5 rounds to 4 going into the 10th. Combine that with outlanding Floyd 193 to 136, that's impressive. Damn impressive for a pro debut.
To better put this into perspective, Vasyl Lomachenko lost his 2nd pro fight to Salido after turning pro with 400 plus amateur fights of experience. Conor had 2 amateur fights in the mid 2000's for pete's sake! Give the man some credit.Comment

Is it that hard to understand the difference between Brooks chances vs GGG and Conors vs Floyd? Tell me you have more brains than that.Comment

It's possible but with Conors reach and counter ability, Floyd realized very early that he wasn't going to win that way. I do give Floyd credit for having the mind and ability to change strategies on the fly and make it work.Had Floyd done his typical hit and not be hit fight, he would have had incredible punch percentage. Incredibly low punches taken. Would have won 12 out of 12 rounds on all cards and all eyes watching. But then you would complain that he ran. The fact is he did what he said he was going to do. He stayed in the pocket and exchanged with Connor. I commend both fighters. And I am glad that's the style of fight both men chose.Comment

Whether he respected Conor or not doesn't change the fact that he was getting hit more consistently than he had been in 15 years by an 0-0 mma fighter making his pro debut. Floyd wasn't going to win on the outside and it was very clear after round 1. To win he had to come forward and fight on the inside.I've been saying this since after the fight. McGregor is getting to much credit for getting walked down by the best DEFENSIVE fighter in boxing. Floyd never walks anyone down, Floyd had 0 respect for Conor. The only thing Conor had on his side going into that fight was the "unknown" factor, Conor will no longer have that benefit in the future.Comment

Floyd tried to bet on a stoppage, not the round of the stoppage. The only thing that has surprised me following that garbage last weekend is that so called boxing people seem to have been duped and don't realize that they basically watched a fixed fight. Nothing corrupt happened. It was a legitimate athletic competition. And McGregor went out there and tried his best to win the fight. The "fix" came from Floyd. Floyd carried McGregor and didn't give a genuine effort. Floyd had an overmatched opponent in front of him, that was no threat to beat or even compete with him. And Floyd did as little as possible. Floyd originally tried to bet on himself winning in a particular round, which was denied. And Floyd basically toyed with McGregor, exerting as little effort as possible, until he was legitimately hurt by a body shot at the beginning of the ninth round. Only then did he decide to put his foot on the gas and stop McGregor.
I'm a Floyd fan, but I'm a bigger boxing fan. And that was the first time I felt Floyd disrespected the sport. Not by taking the fight. But by not giving a genuine effort. Floyd is past his prime, 40yrs old, and coming off a two year layoff. But Floyd hasn't forgotten basic boxing. Floyd didn't forget how to throw a punch. He didn't forget how to defend. He didn't forget how to work his way inside behind a jab. And he didn't forget how to cut off the ring. Floyd didn't just look like a shell of himself. He looked almost like an amateur in there. And not even a top level amateur at that. We basically watched a glorified club fight. McGregor did his best and Floyd is past it. But I have a hard time believing one of the best technical fighters ever became a C level bum. Floyd hasn't wanted to fight for a long time now. This was a money grab. And Floyd completely ****'d I the sport that made him who he is.Comment

I saw that already and it ended in 10 seconds. Aldos not on Conors level in mma or boxing. Pointless fight.
But....since we're speaking of Conor fights, I really would like to see him against Paulie now. It's a grudge match that has it all.Comment

No doubt. I rather enjoyed his boxing style. I was worried when I saw the Malignaggi sparring footage but it turned out to be totally different on fight night.
I'm looking forward to seeing him fight in either sport.
Honestly here....can anyone image how good Conor would be right now if he had several years of boxing experience and training? He would be incredible.Comment
