Initially I never thought it'd beat MayPac but their promotion was BRILLIANT. McGregor did a fine job especially. The closer I got to the fight, the better it looked like it was going to do. Everyone was talking about it. You know when casuals on the street are talking about a fight, it's going to do well commercially. The only 3 fights I can remember that happening in the last 5 years in the UK has been May-Canelo, MayPac, Joshua-Klitschko, Froch-Groves and MayMac.

Agreed. It was a better marketing tactic than I thought it would be and that was their plan. They had the most popular fighter in MMA go against the most popular (and hated) boxer and that is all they needed to make a lucrative event come true.

That is a lot of different ways to purchase the fight. That it wasnt just showtime but the UFC as well. Plus the amount of crazy and unknowlegeable UFC fans that legit thought Conor not only had a chance but was going to KO mayweather was what made me know this would sell well.

At first I thought it was going to do bad but then I realized I was reading the opinions of hardcore Boxing fans on a Boxing forum.

This fight was for casuals and the average sports fan.

I think I remember you originally said it was going to do in the low 2 million area.

I'll say this...I never heard overheard so many people talking about a fight as I did this one. I overheard people talking about it eating a a restaurant the week before, the night of the fight I walked into a bar to grab some beer and waiting in line the bartender was asking the guy in front of me if he was watching it. The day after at the gym there were guys talking about it. Next level promotion.
