Thraxox there are a lot of racial fans on here that will probably insult you for this, but you are 100% correct and I've said this many times. Canelo is the only one who comes close and Canelo was weight drained for that fight, plus he's never decisively beaten a top boxer himself either. You are 100% correct. As for Diego Corrales, on top of all the great points you made about that fight, Alex Ariza was the fitness coach for Corrales during that fight, and Ariza gave an interview to ESNews saying that was the biggest mistake of his career because Corrales had the fever all week, so Ariza decided to try a "hail mary" and "starve the fever" or something, which backfired and made Corrales even sicker, which is why he missed weight for that fight.
In other words, not only had Corrales been KO'd by other guys, but that wasn't even the best Corrales Floyd fought, it was a sick, weight drained, walking corpse, as Ariza describes it.
So literally every Floyd victory against a supposed elite opponent is just an illusion. It should tell you something that Corrales is all Floyd fans have to point to in terms of A-level prime wins. Corrales was not A-level and he was not prime, healthy Corrales on that night.
It's ironic that people criticize GGG's resumé when Daniel Jacobs at 160 is a more difficult puzzle than anyone Floyd ever fought in their primes. The closest I can think of is Miguel Cotto at 154, but Cotto was a natural 140 or 147, he had a short reach even for welterweight... Jacobs has a long reach for middleweight... Cotto is physically short for welterweight... Jacobs is tall for middleweight... Cotto is a mostly one-handed fighter... Jacobs is so ambidextrous he can switch stances... Cotto is slower than Jacobs despite being smaller and fighting in a lower division... Cotto has the more powerful hook to the body but overall Jacobs has more knockout power...
Floyd's entire career was cherry picked for him, even when Top Rank promoted him. People act like Top Rank is above that, but you can see them doing the exact same thing with Crawford now. All of his "big fights" since Gamboa rocked him have been against carefully picked guys with very low knockout ratios. They just got lucky this time that those guys happened to come with belts as well because of how weak 140 is. But Crawford finally had a chance to fight someone good in that division, Lipinets, and he vacated the IBF. Why? Because that would mean actually fighting someone with both athleticism and power, something he hasn't done since fighting Gamboa, and that only happened because Gamboa was so much smaller. It still almost backfired though.
Not that Lipinets has elite athleticism or power, but at least he has both, which, again, is more than you can say about anyone Crawford has fought since Gamboa. So Top Rank knows what they're doing, but once again the same ignorant, racially biased Floyd fanbase is lapping up the BS they're being sold, so I guess Top Rank is smart to keep selling them low-risk bull**** if they'll keep buying it? It's hilarious that when Floyd said belts don't matter, they all parroted that ****, but now that Crawford is fighting B-level opponents who have belts, these same fans want to tell you the level of the opponent doesn't matter, it's the belts that matter, and they make Crawford a great #1 pound-for-pound fighter all by themselves, he doesn't need to actually face anyone good.
Floyd got rich off these idiots without ever having to fight prime elite competition. Maybe Crawford will too. As for me the neutral boxing fan, I will stick to supporting real ones. Looking forward to Lomachenko-Rigondeaux in December, a fight between not one, but two, real ones.
