Kermit Cintron tried when he was undefeated and UFC rejected him. Citron has a strong wrestling background and UFC didn't want the lose the UFC vs Boxing War that they started.

Mike Alvarado is undefeated in college wrestling. He would have destroyed dudes back when he was up and coming.

          No they don't.

          Ryan Ford, though...
He was a decent MMA fighter (22-5), beat a handful of decent opponents. And is now fighting for the *WBO Inter-Continental Light Heavyweight Title* next month, fwiw. 12-0 overall in Boxing, 11-0 since his last MMA fight in 2014.

Yeah, we've already seen it happen (Holy Holm), but who's next?
Holy holm is a boxer turned mma fighter. She became a full mma fighter, and had many mma fights before becoming famous, no one knew her in boxing. If any of the top boxers decide to fight a big mma fight they get their asses kicked.

Like you said, boxers have already crossed over, one guy even knocked out the former UFC heavyweight champ, lol.

But the main factor is boxers make more money boxing than doing MMA. Also, why try to add kicks and wrestling when MMA fighters already know how to punch?

She also won the IKF National Amatuers as a kickboxer. Holy Holm, while a bad ass, is a poor example to use as a boxer going into MMA. You said it yourself, she had been training MMA for a decade before she ever stepped foot into MMA and nearly 15 years before she fought Rousy. How many boxers have even a tenth of the background she does in MMA?

No one would claim that great boxing technique is'nt a powerful tool in MMA, but if its all you got, you're *****d. Its really got to the point in MMA that you really need to be good in 3 or 4 disciplines.

So you want someone who's done more than boxing so you don't gotta start from the ground up with teaching him take down defense & other basic sh^t a pure boxer would be lacking in.

I think Lomachenko would be a guy who could crossover & do some damage in MMA if he choose to. I think a lot of HW's could play ball cuz HW in the UFC is largely a stand up fighting division so Anthony Joshua with some take down defense & some kicks added to his game I believe could be the UFC champion or contend for it at very least. That said I doubt either attempt it cuz the money in MMA isn't as sweet as the money in boxing so it doesn't make any sense to do regardless of how good a boxer could be in MMA.
The only way a boxer would go do MMA was when he was a total wash-job and is a name that needs the money. Perfect example of this is James Toney. I think Mercer also brutally KO'd Tim Sylvia. Otherwise it makes no economic sense. IF you see any more "cross-over" it will be MMAers trying to hack it in boxing like kickboxers have for eons. No one really cares about the grappling aspects of MMA anyway other than hard-hard cores so I see MMA just becoming kickboxing with small gloves over time..

Overall sure. But I don't think everyone has the same connections in boxing for it to make sense necessarily. And 99% of people in boxing & MMA make f#ck all for money so idk how much a difference it actually is to be at the bottom of the card of a club show or at the bottom of the card for some minor MMA league show.

And the money is changing quick too. The UFC is catching up & its a solid bet the money will be equal in MMA & boxing soon. Right now the top guys in MMA are making $10M+ when PPV money comes in. And in boxing, outside of Floyd, it seems the top guys make around $20M-$30M+. Obviously there is still a ways to go, but I remember when not not long no MMA had ever had a disclosed million purse & the top guys were making $5M+ when PPV money was coming in.

How long the upswing in MMA fighter pay lasts is anyone's guess. 2016 UFC seemed a company on the upswing, with plenty of room for growth at the bottom line and in fighter pay. 2017 UFC is a company with PPV buys and FOX ratings in the tank betting the farm on a freakshow one-off event to make the metrics they need to make to make their lenders and shareholders happy.

We'll need to see how things develop..
