Um well, he pretty much WAS forced into it. LOL. In this case, he was absolutely right but this is boxing.

This is what happens when you stall your own career and only fight twice a year against mediocre competition. This guy will be fighting in High School gymnasiums on PBS if he ever expects to sell out another venue. Meanwhile, he turned down $5M to fight Whyte, which would probably be an easier win and would have given him some much needed exposure across the pond. Way to go Al Haymon!

Or is that why Joshua wanted to do the Wlad rematch or Pulev mandatory instead of Wilder? Or maybe that's why Hearn keeps saying 2018 when mentioning Wilder?

I normally don't comment on Wilder threads but this is the only place where an African American fighter can try to make a fight and still be accused of ducking
The guys had 3 years to fight decent opposition and we're still waiting. He always calls people out when he knows fights can't happen and then ends up fighting no hopers. You can't blame Ortiz for wanting the Joshua fight because he could retire off the proceeds. He needs to get the stiverne fight out of the way and then hopefully the Joshua fight can be made. AJ has stepped up and fought a top heavyweight and now it's wilders turn.

Let's think about this for a sec:

Joshua - Him and Hearn don't want Wilder until 2018. Confirmed via several interviews by Hearn.

Ortiz - All of a sudden, no longer wanted to fight Wilder. Instead wants to fight Joshua knowing darn well Joshua is going to fight Pulev. Clear duck by Ortiz.

Povetkin - fight was signed, sealed and delivered. Povetkin fails a drug test days before the fight. Somehow that's DWs fault.

Fury - Beat Wlad and retired. Wilder asked for the fight. Fury has stayed retired. I agree that's Wilder's fault

Maybe Wilder can fight Whyte, but that still leaves him in the same boat he's in now. Really doesnt do much for him.

                    What am I missing here?

Are you denying that taking a fight in the U.K. could only increase his popularity and a demand for a fight with Joshua? Are any HWs in the U.S. putting 90K asses in seats? Tell us all about Wilder's PPV numbers.
