Kovalev IMO is not a better P4P fighter than Golovkin. K is a top fighter but in just P4P terms I think he is a notch below Golovkin. He does not have nearly as much versatility to his game. Of course this is all mythical but a Golovkin who is naturally as big as Kovalev does not lose fight one to Ward IMO.
I don't think everyone judges P4P the same way. How much is it resume and history, how much is it what the guy is doing now vs. what they did, or you think he would do right now vs. others (that's the Loma argument)? There are a lot of factors.
Again I have Ward #1 P4P right now. Some people are blown away with his resume I'm not. I think it is very solid. I don't think any of the guys he beat at 168lbs were elite fighters or even near elite. I think the fact he moved up and proved to be the better fighter over Kovalev is big. I had it 1-1 but definitely thought Ward was the better fighter.
