Comments Thread For: Davis on Lomachenko: Looking to Fight Someone That Draws Better

NEW YORK Gervonta Davis is preparing to fight an opponent Vasyl Lomachenko knocked out last year. It does not seem, however, that a very intriguing bout between the undefeated Davis and Lomachenko is any closer to taking place. The 22-year-old Davis (18-0, 17 KOs) owns the IBF super featherweight title and the 29-year-old Lomachenko (8-1, 6 KOs) is the WBO 130-pound champion.

So who exactly is a bigger fight for Davis than Loma? I wish fighters would stop with the lame excuses and just admit they're not willing to take that kind of risk just yet.

Rocky Martinez's trainer said yesterday they couldn't make 130. They told Gervonta's people 135 or no fight más they haven't heard from them since. I don't think Davis will be fighting Rocky.

Yeah that's why Davis is fighting Roman Martinez who sells less than Loma and who Loma just knocked out.

All I hear is quack quack quack quack. Every time a Floyd advised boxer pulls this ****, it makes it look like Floyd was the one who delayed the Pacquiao fight.

              Quack quack quack quack quack.

My thoughts exactly. Lomachenko's a rising star, a fight against such a strong opponent would draw plenty. The real reason this fight isn't being discussed is because it would end up as a defeat for Davis, potentially a brutal or humiliating one.

Good that was a terrible fight anyway. For the fans and the sport, obviously, but for Rocky too. Speed is not good for him, and speed and power is really not good for him.

You guys are both on point. It seems like Floyd told Gervonta to duck Lomachenko until Lomachenko gets old and Gervonta is going along with it. Very disappointing to see because Gervonta is an exciting young fighter who many boxing fans like myself would probably love to start rooting for and get invested in his career, but by being a ducker and then using phony bull**** excuses like this to try to cover it up and put the blame on the champion instead, he makes it impossible for fans to support him or root for him.

And it just keeps happening especially with American boxers advised by Haymon or Mayweather. Why do they have to keep essentially ruining all these young exciting American boxers for the fans? Why can't American fans have a "good guy" boxer for once, a Haymon boxer like GGG or Lomachenko but American who actually chases all the best fights and talks about respecting the sport instead of this fake "that guy who draws at least as much as I do doesn't draw enough for me to fight him" bull****?

The only ones who give me hope for that lately out of Haymon's stable are JRoc, Spence, and Thurman, plus I am finally coming around to DSG after he finally stepped up to fight Thurman if he does take another tough fight next, but I feel like the large majority of the boxers these guys advise or manage just start ducking right away and it makes it impossible for fans to like them. When their talent could actually be worth having lots of fans if they would just respect the sport and not pull **** like this. It's very disappointing.
