I've never heard anyone call Canelo a slapper. That's a wired thing to say. Canelo is not a big puncher but he has good timing and he really digs to the body. I have a feeling Canelo will be able to take Golovkin's power with no problems. If that's the case he will definitely outbox Golovkin.

I hate Canelo. I think it's terrible for the sport to fight for years and years at catchweights, relinquish a title to avoid GGG etc.. that being said if you watch and analyze his punching technique it's spectacular, he throws fast, hard shots to head and body,He throws straight from the chin (usually) and gets unbelievable leverage on his shots, he counters well and has crazy combinations. His straight right and left hook are awesome, just a guy who's mastered the art of punching a person..that being said he doesn't gave that 1-shot, Julian Jackson type power...he's more of a thudder, hard shots with both hands but not likely gonna spark a guy with 1 shot...Miguel Cotto power if you will.

Any fighter/coach who talks about a fighter being a slapper before the fight actually ends up getting b*tch slapped for 12 rounds in a UD loss. With GGG's age and fighting style he could fall victim to this especially if he and his coach are not paying attention to Canelo's power while training.

That actually does put it perfectly into perspective, good comparison. Canelo vs Jacobs would be extremely close with Jacobs probably taking everything canelo threw at him and being even more active, but Cotto gets mauled inside of 9 by Golovkin at least in my opinion.

What makes you think Abel and Gennady won't be working on defense in camp? Just because Abel is saying that in an interview doesn't mean he will have Golovkin throw caution to the wind . These guys are smart and know what they are up against.
I firmly believe Gennady can take canelo's shots, question is can canelo take Golovkins? I tend to think not

While Abel does make some good points in regards to some of Canelo's knockouts -- and no, Canelo isn't pound for pound the level of puncher that Gennady is -- Canelo's power is still nothing to laugh about.

                    Canelo can punch, man.
