I agree. I've never rated him very highly. He just doesn't have that many good wins.Mosley - Either way fight very close, lucky to get the decision.
Margarito - Got destroyed
Pacquiao - Got Destroyed
Clottey - Either way fight very close, lucky to get the decision.
Who did he clearly beat to make people rate him so highly at the weight? Old Zab and Quitana? Alfnso Gomez?
Come to think of it his record as a whole isn't great. Who did he beat that makes people rate him so highly?Comment

The Zab fight was pretty competitive too.
He hurt Cotto a few times and had some really good moments.
Cotto did well to take him out though. Zab wasn't old then but he didn't have an official win in over 2 years.Comment

He isn't great. He was a very good fighter at best with some decent wins, that's about it. After losing to Trout, he spent the rest of his career carefully matched and dining out on beating a cripple too. Now let's not forget that Canelo's best win is a close fight with a faded Cotto who was ever anything great to start with.
He was very good fighter on his day though but i never viewed him as an elite fighter. I always felt his reputation and status within the sport outweighed his actual ability and resume.Comment

Very good fighter, his career was damaged a lot by the Margarito scandal. Having someone hit you with bricks for 11 rounds would ruin most people so props to him for coming back pretty strong from it. I actually had Mosley beating him (it was a very close fight, pretty exciting to watch as well). As a welterweight his resume wasn't great I agree. The Judah fight was also kinda controversial because he was having a bit of trouble early and landed several low blows which affected it.Comment
