I used to pick Joe to win but after Ward's last 3 fights I would pick Ward to win a UD. Ward has much more punching power than I gave him credit for and of course he is a very smart and skilled boxer and close range fighter. Joe would give him a hard fight with his fast hands and the large number of punches he throws every round but Ward would win in my opinion.

He did test himself to a degree and fight some pretty good fighters at the time, but nobody even close to Andre Ward. This guy has it all, lots of boxing skill, high level defense, an inside game, a GREAT jab and right hand, and an amazing IQ and unbreakable will to win to top it all of. Not to say Andre straight beats him up or blows him out but ultimately he's the better fighter and would've won if they matched up prime vs prime in a competitive decision.
Yet Ward hasn't beaten better fighters.

Joe beat an undefeated Kessler, Hopkins, Eubank and a solid bunch of world champions like Mitchell, Robin Reid, Richie Woodhall, Jeff Lacy.

People act like Hopkins was shot but he was the lineal 175 champ and remember how he schooled Pavlik following the Joe fight.

You should know as a brit dude that guys like Reid or Woodhall (olympic medalist and WBC champ) were very solid fighters.

Ward best wins are a left lover in Kessler, Kovalev, Froch, Dawson at 168, Barrera, Abraham.

How is that so much better legacywise???

I just don't know HOW Ward is a "MUCH BETTER" fighter.

And if it takes 20 close rounds to Dre to beat Kova, I don't know how Ward is so obviously supposed to outclass Joe in 12.

That's the very opposite to me.

Hopkins made Joe look human and beatable so I was somehow more confident about Ward.

But Sergei exposed weaknesses in Dre boxing game, defense.

He also made him look human and beat him once for a lot of people.

Let's make it simple, Dre couldn't outbox Serguei so Dre broke the russian down, and it took him 2 fights to achieve it.

Wich is amazing, props to Dre.

But I thought Dre was going to outbox Kovalev, I thought skillwise Dre was better than that and wouldn't have to outhustle a guy like Kova.

So know, I don't know if Dre would outbox Calzaghe.

One thing is sure, Calzaghe had balls and wasn't a quitter like Kova.

Style make fights, and Calzaghe style doesn't look good for Ward either.

Calzaghe beats Ward easily with his speed.

This is a tough one. I think Ward benefits from fighting in a weak era while Joe gets underrated.

I am Calzaghe non-believer but I think his activity will give him more than a fair chance of winning.
Remember, Ward isnt the hardest puncher out there.

But if course the referee can always allow the dirty tactics to tip the balance towards Ward.

Interesting fight. Joe had the fastest flurries I've seen in that weight class. He also had a good set of whiskers on him.
