Luis Ortiz "Deontay Wilder Is Using My Name As Leverage For Another Fight"

"Ortiz knows about it and he's very excited. He really wants that fight with Wilder. He knows it's a dangerous fight, because of Wilder's style - he's very awkward, but he knows what he's up against. He believes Joshua is the easier fight, he's easier to box, while Wilder is a little unpredictable and wild with his punches. We believe Wilder wants the fight, he's not afraid. He's not like Joshua, who's never mentioned Ortiz's name. Ortiz's name has never once come out of Joshua's mouth, the guy is a p*ssy. We don't think Joshua wants anything to do with King Kong," Jiminez told BoxingScene.com.
Great sources NahMean ! BWAHAHAHAHA!!!Comment

What's your point? And what do you mean great sources?.. This is what Ortiz said himself in and interview. Ortiz and his team are contradicting each other but one thing they both mention is that Wilder has to sort out a deal with his mandatory before trying to negotiate with others."Ortiz knows about it and he's very excited. You mean boxers and there representatives lie? OH man! how embarrassing for you but you ran with this phony article to hate on Deontay -- shame on you. What's your point? Hate on Deontay lol how? I only quoted what Ortiz and his team said, How's that make me a hater?.. I didn't add my own comments to it OP. Let others judge what to make of it. And it's not embarrassing for me at all this is that Ortiz said and I quoted it verbatim. As for sources, there's no better source than Ortiz himself on this matter right?
If any article was "phony" it was the one that said Ortiz vs Wilder is "nearly finalised".. Except it isn't, nothing is final until the Stiverne issue is resolved.
Everyone needs to pump the breaks. Ortiz and his trainer is saying Wilder is making empty offers.. Ortiz's manager is saying Wilder wants the fight but can't fight due to his mando. Stiverne has hired J Prince.. So everything is a rumour until we hear officiall word. There's no "hating"... Just "speculating".Last edited by NahMean; 07-20-2017, 11:00 PM.Comment

My bad, I was mislead by your post history so you were just reporting tell help us all out and get a better understanding of the situation right? ok, I mean your threads about Dyllan Whyte vs. Deontay is also a bad look too but maybe I was wrong about you -- cool sig too btw.Hate on Deontay lol how? Again I made threads on exactly what the fighters said and I quoted them. Whyte said he offered 5mill but Wilder wanted no part of it so I made a thread on it. Am I hating by pointing out the obvious and the truth?.My bad, I was mislead by your post history so you were just reporting tell help us all out and get a better understanding of the situation right? ok, I mean your threads about Dyllan Whyte vs. Deontay is also a bad look too but maybe I was wrong about you -- cool sig too btw.
You obviously missed the part where I said Wilder gets mad props for fighting Ortiz over Whyte and I said Wilder beats Ortiz.. But I'm hating right?.
You're entitled to your opinion but your opinion seems emotionally invested to certain fighters. Boxing is entertainment to me and I'm just having fun. I have no emotional attachment to any fighter I just want the best fights.
Wilder needs to fight someone with a pulse and his style is horrible.. That's my opinion and all those are all facts.. Doesn't make me a hater for pointing it out. Only a emotionally invested fanboy will say Wilder has a brilliant resume and a slick polished boxing technique.Last edited by NahMean; 07-21-2017, 12:10 AM.Comment

What is the link?Recent rumors of a fall showdown versus unbeaten heavyweight titlist Deontay Wilder. Highly respected boxing journalist Keith Idec recently reported on BoxingScene.com the news of a potential clash between the two, with sources indicating that all signs were pointing to a November 4 showdown at Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York.
Ortiz says: "It was news to Ortiz' ears—at least until talking to his own team and learning that, for now, it's just more of the same talk."
"Opponents using Luis' name as leverage for another fight is nothing new," notes Herman Caicedo, Ortiz' head trainer. "Look, we commend Deontay—or at least whoever is speaking on his behalf—for appearing to be serious about fighting Luis. I know that he's not very big on fighting (Bermane) Stiverne again, likely because no TV network wants the fight.
"But until his team can figure out a way for his next fight to not be his mandatory challenge, we're just going to continue with business as usual. We get our hopes up way too often, and then find out (Ortiz) is just being used as leverage without any real interest from those mentioning his name."
"If they told me the fight was tomorrow, I'm on a plane today to fly wherever the fight is taking place," insists the 38-year old southpaw from Miami by way of Cuba, whom hasn't fought since 7th round stoppage of David Allen last December. "But for my business, everything runs through the team I trust, beginning with my manager Jay Jimenez who I talk to constantly. We're not seeing anything (so far) where he can step around Bermane Stiverne to fight me or anyone else.
"I get where Stiverne is coming from because I'm going through the same crap with (unbeaten, unified titlist) Anthony Joshua. I've been his mandatory challenger (through the WBA) forever, but the WBA doesn't want to act until Wladimir Klitschko (whom Joshua stopped in 11 rounds this past April) decides what he wants to do with the rest of his career. That's the fight I've been waiting for—that or the WBA title that Joshua is holding ransom through all of this."
"We've wasted a lot of training camps believing a big fight was going to happen, only to find out it's either a much smaller fight or none at all," laments Ortiz. "I'm in the gym, regardless. I'm always in shape and ready to go.Comment

Stiverne had that video explaining exercising that mandatory status...the WBC has crazy stipulations for these things but the IBF is even more pressing when it comes to their mandatories. Glazkov fought Darnell Wilson, "U.S.S." Cunningham, and Kertson Mantswell before getting that title shot that caused Tyson Fury to be stripped.
In reference to Wilder, we'll have to wait and see how things will shape out because if Stiverne is the mandatory and he is in the way of bigger fights, why not handle that ASAP? Get it out of the way regardless of who wants to see it or how much money you get out of it.Comment
