Rosario....check; but Chavez beat Edwin in far more convincing fashion.
Ramirez....check; got to give Hector his due here. That win of his over Jose was far more impressive than Julio's.
Okay let's see. Hector's A list:
Jose Luis Ramirez...impressive
Edwin Rosario......not impressive
Cornelius Boza Edwards....impressive
Rafael Limon.....impressive
Ray Mancini....after layoff of 4 years, and still a close and dull fight....not impressive
Vinny Pazienza.....impressive, unless you accept that Paz was overrated....oh, it's true.
Greg Haugen......lost....Greg was at his best at 135, not 140.
Greg Haugen......not that impressive of a win; but Greg is a tough cookie
Julio Caesar Chavez......Hector took the Mother of All Beatings
Felix Trinidad........'nother beating; but Hector's on the skids
Oscar De La Hoya......'nuther beating; but Hector is old.
I won't even mention the Chris Walsh fight.
Okay, here's the problem. Hector could have faced Mancini before Ray retired....didn't. Also, didn't give Rosario a rematch. With Hector, he soon realized the gravy train was passing him by and then he started to beat the war drums and demand fights.....'cause he wanted the money.
Wins over an old Duran, an old Leonard, an overrated Vinny Pazienza, and Greg Haugen do not a great fighter's resume make.
Hector beat the second tier of guys, not the top....except in his youth; and he just didn't do enough over the course of his career to warrant the title of All time Great. Not to me.
