neither want to fight each other thats why. when two fighters really want to fight each other, deals get done. its gonna be many years before ward is in a tough match up again, if ever. its going to be the circus tour from now on, bellew at cruiser and then a freak show fight at heavyweight against a bum. I think stevensons happy enough just fighting bums, no real serious interest in fighting ward and tbf is he gonna earn much more fighting ward than these bums? Ward couldnt draw flies to ****.The american public have never warmed to him and they never will.

Does Ward care about the criticism? He's been criticized for a lot of things but one thing we know is he's going to do what he thinks is best for Ward regardless of what anybody thinks. So that excuse doesn't work.

Ward never fights in his opponents backyard, and tjere is just no way that this fight can produce a purse that makes ward happy fighting in jOakland.

Ward has never wanted to fight Stevenson.
Ward never does two fight deals where he has to travel. He turned down Stevenson as well as Bute for identical deals (as far as venue).

Andre Ward says Stevenson doesn’t deserve to fight him

            By Brian Daly, QMI Agency
            Tuesday, June 11, 2013 4:10:29 EDT PM

Newly-minted WBC light-heavyweight champ Adonis Stevenson wants a piece of undefeated American Andre Ward, but the feeling isn’t mutual.

Newly-minted WBC light-heavyweight champ Adonis Stevenson wants a piece of undefeated American Andre Ward, but the feeling isn’t mutual.

Ward, considered the No. 2 pound-for-pound pugilist in the world behind Floyd Mayweather, says Stevenson (21-1-0, 18 KOs) doesn’t have the track record to warrant a title fight.

The WBA super middleweight champion (26-0, 14 KOs) says Stevenson won’t get a shot until he has “won some big fights.”

But Ward might have trouble saying no if Stevenson’s devastating first-round knockout of American Chad Dawson on Saturday piques interest in the power-punching, late-blooming Montrealer.

His promoter, Yvon Michel, told QMI Agency that he’ll meet HBO top brass next week to try to hammer out a deal that would see Stevenson fight Ward on U.S. soil at 168 pounds, on one condition.

“(Ward must) sign a two-fight deal that guarantees a return to Montreal at 175 pounds,” said Michel. “We won’t give (Ward) all of the advantages!”

HBO commentators were dazzled by Stevenson’s left cross that felled Dawson, with analyst Max Kellerman calling the bout a “star-making performance.”

Stevenson only began boxing at age 29, but has knocked out his last eight opponents. He says Ward, who was at ringside at the Bell Centre on Saturday, simply wants to avoid Dawson’s fate.

“Ward definitely wants to delay this to avoid facing me,” said the champ. “It took him 10 rounds to defeat Chad Dawson. It took me how many seconds? Ah yes, 76. Ward is crazy to say I’m not ready.”

Yep. And that was when Bute was huge in Montreal. Also didn't want to travel to fight Froch. If the other guy is bigger in his home you gotta travel to where he is. I don't understand that about Ward.

Whats not to understand? Ward is at a huge advantage fighting at home. Just as many others before him like Ottke, Bute, Calzaghe etc.

What advantages? There hasn't been crazy scoring at his fights in Cali. Everyone he's fought in Cali wouldn't have been a bigger fight anywhere else. I'm talking about turning down bigger fights on the road.

What does Stevenson and Bute have in common? They haven't beaten anyone worth a damn.

Stevenson? KO'd Dawson after Ward. Big deal

Bute? What, he beat Glen Johnson at the time? Bute wanted to wait on the sidelines while everyone went through the gauntlet only to fight the winner. Doesn't work like that.

I'm glad you brought up Stevenson and Bute. They have/had a lot in common...

Regarding Ward fighting outside of Oakland, where did him and Froch fight?

I remember how the UK judges robbed Dirrel against Froch. Damn shame.

Timezones, camp break up, different surroundings and language, foreign promotor, foreign officials, different food. I could go on and on.
