What were the reasons Ward didn't want to fight him at 168? When HBO offered them a 2 fight deal. Stevenson coming down in weight and traveling to Oakland for the first fight. Ward going to Montreal the second fight. This was after Stevenson sparked Dawson. Ward has been curving Stevenson for a long time. Back then he said Stevenson needed to fight bigger names. Ward has never wanted to fight Stevenson.
Why haven't Ward and Stevenson called each other out yet?

To me, it seems as if Ward and his team takes issue with Stevenson not fighting Kovalev for years while Ward more or less agreed to fight him and did so twice within a one year span, 18 months including the move up to LHW and the tune ups. Now after Kovalev is more or less out of the way, Stevenson wants to interject himself into the mix lol. Basically, like leaving Ward to do his dirty work for him.Comment

Source? This is the first i've heard of that and considering resumes and reputations, that is pretty hard to believe.Stevenson was even willing to go back down to 168 after he beat Dawson to fight Ward. It was part of a 2 fight HBO deal where the first fight would be in Oakland and the second in Montreal. Ward said "Nah, I'm good"
Ward can say what he wants about Stevenson now but I remember he's never wanted any parts of Stevenson.Comment

Who was Stevenson back then? So he beat Ward's leftovers and becomes Mr Boogeyman? What were the reasons Ward didn't want to fight him at 168? When HBO offered them a 2 fight deal. This is new to me, that Ward is ducking old man Stevenson. I'll think about logging off for today because I won't read anything more amusing for the rest of the day.Comment

Ward was in the middle of his promotional drama at the time. Ward fought once in 2 years, 9 months after beating Dawson. What were the reasons Ward didn't want to fight him at 168? Also, Ward was criticized for bringing Dawson down to 168, the same exact thing was going to happen if he did it to Stevenson immediately after.Comment

Both guys suck at self promotion first off so whoever they fight next they will suck at hyping it. Second Stevenson doesn't even seem to have a legit Showtime deal yet last I heard seems married to fighting on Showtime & Ward may or may not still be under the HBO banner. So the fight might not even be makeable cuz there isn't any money in that fight for HBO & Showtime to work together.
Personally I'm rooting on Ward vs Bellew. I've given up on Stevenson legit wanting big fights. And if he's getting $1M to fight bs opponents over the 2 or 3 guys in the division who can beat him or give him a challenge before he shows up old one night fair play to him.Comment

Ward is confused at AS's reign. He can't wrap his head around how he's been champion for so long without fighting the other best in his weight class.
Ward, this is a guy who fought the best in the two weight classes he's been in. Anyone could come up with whatever excuse about 168 and the Super 6 helping him beef up his resume but in the end those names are on his res, and at 175 he immediately added Barrera and Kovalev in there. He's been through more **** than Adonis has been through but he still found a way to fight Kovalev and he did it twice.
Ward is the type of student in the game who hands in all his assignments. Stevenson is the type to say "my dog ate my homework". No comparison.Comment

Only the lineal LHW champion.
A businessman like Ward knows very well why Kovalev and Stevenson never fought. He knows Duva made the business decision to hitch her wagons to HBO and pull out of the purse bid and reject a $4mil licensing fee from Showtime to fight Adonis. He also knows Hopkins left Showtime and went to HBO to fight Kovalev for less money to get Main Events to drop their lawsuit against Golden Boy.
Ward can play this game but he knows what really went on. Ward is playing up to the media when he talks about Stevenson not fighting Kovalev because he knows that's what they want to hearComment
