Virtually no Americans in the tourney, are there any Haymon guys? When it was first announced I thought because of Schaefer relationship with Haymon all those guys would be involved and PBC would air it on one of their networks. But looking at the names and where these fights likely will be staged it could be all out in Europe. That means early start times and Football is coming back in the fall. Makes it tough to find a network willing to pay big for this.

Oh yeah, AWE does cards too. Even beIN Network.

Its not really surprising doe. The SMW tournament has 1 US guy in it. The CW tournament has 1 US guy (by way of Cuba) in it. They weren't going to have a bidding war for US coverage with that roster. Granted its tip top guys in the CW tournament & really good guys in the SMW tournament, but the appeal is always gonna be less for any country if you don't have many fighters from your particular country in the tournament.

I really hope some of the fights will be staged in germany.
Usyk vs huck seems likely. Briedis is also now a little bit better known in Germany after beating huck and knocking out charr.

LOL I'm the only guy who forgets about football. So yea ESPN probably doesn't make any sense.

Hell I keep talking about streaming networks & I believe that to be the future. An Amazon or Hulu might not be a bad partner for this series if they can snag a deal quick enough. I honestly suspected Showtime would be all over this so surprised to learn they aren't according to Fat Dan. And HBO gots one foot in boxing & one foot out so I'd be surprised if they were able to afford this with their budget + even wanted to put in the time to put on 4-8 shows in a 2 month period for the initial round.

Hopefully not Bounce. Nobody has that channel.

                  Agree on the Haymon/Schaefer connection.

As for Haymon guys in the tournament I believe only Gassiev & Huck have Haymon as an advisor iirc. Andrew Tabiti, a Haymon guy, applied to be in the tournament but got denied apparently. And with the caliber of guys in the CW tournament was the right decision for the tournament & for Tabiti I tend to believe.

I think that's the crux of it. Even Sky Sports seems to be wavering on pulling the trigger on it because they can only purchase the whole thing or nothing at all and eight straight weeks of quarter-finals is as you say a big commitment. I tend to think they should have just squeezed all eight of the QF bouts into two or three shows
