False. PBC's goal was to grow the pie because HBO's budget was evaporating. Haymon needed to spend money to prove to other networks that boxing was worth spending money on.

The result was Showtime deciding to spend way more on boxing, CBS starting to spend money on boxing for the first time in decades, while developing a relationship with FOX as well.

If Top Rank was able to get hedge fund money because of Haymon's success, good for them. Still benefits Haymon if it speeds up the demise of HBO boxing.

Certainly seems to have played a part.

Top Rank settled with Haymon in May 2016.

Golden Boy started negotiating with ESPN soon after that.

      All part of Haymon's plan.

Yeah, I don't see why not. He's a shady character for sure but at least he put free boxing on my TV. But I will also thank Bob Arum for giving me a free Pacquiao fight.

Pretty sure no one thought that.

Cotto wasn't even signed to GBP when the GBP/ESPN deal was announced.

espn getting into boxing, while paying nothing, still puts pressure on fs1 to one up them in the boxing sphere, even if they have to spend to do it.
Yup. They've doubled the shows on FS1 as well.

And they still have a Fox date this fall.
