Should boxing thank Al Haymon for free boxing?

haymon is always ten steps ahead.
yes, his proof of concept made arum's deal possible, but arum is still a step behind.
espn isn't paying for these shows. meanwhile, showtime is paying haymon more than ever and CBS is paying for a huge show once a year as well. FOX will most likely be buying a bigger PBC package in 2018 as well.Comment

What you wrote is just flat out wrong, that's why no one will admit it. HBO put an offer to buy this exact fight and TR rejected it so he can launch the new platform.
Al had a great concept but it was mismanaged as hell. This is much more likely to succeed bc there is a plan for sustainability.Comment

Oh is there now? Like Unimas? What you wrote is just flat out wrong, that's why no one will admit it. HBO put an offer to buy this exact fight and TR rejected it so he can launch the new platform.

Yes. Haymon brought it back then the other promoters tried to sue him now they are doing the same thingComment

Technically that may be true, but the broader picture is HBO is cutting waaaaay back on the fights they were going to buy, and Arum was getting pi$$ed at his guys only fighting a couple times a year. He saw the writing on the wall, Showtime/PBC were going to own the whole game if he didn't do something big. He certainly seems to be on the right track, but the media-slobbering over this deal is ridiculous. TR hasn't even been on a network yet. What you wrote is just flat out wrong, that's why no one will admit it. Unimas was never supposed to be a major fight network it was to put on smaller shows.
Their plan is to sign with a network and get paid to put on their fights. The same formula that worked on HBO and Showtime for decades. The only difference is it's now on a basic cable channel. They will be successful for as long as the network wants to stay in the boxing business. PBC was only going to be successful until they ran out of money unless they got someone to pay them.Comment

So because it wasn't a major fight network, there was no plan for sustainability on Unimas? Exactly.Unimas was never supposed to be a major fight network it was to put on smaller shows.
