Do you know why? Remember the last time Arum left and took Pacquiao and his whole stable to Showtime? What happened? He was back to HBO with his tail between his legs in less than a year.
They weren't worried last time they lost Arum because they had Haymon. Now they have neither and they are ****ed.

And I guarantee the same thing happens here.

HBO will pull a rabbit out of their hat by doing business with Haymon again.
HBO would have to double or triple their boxing budget and give all of the dates to Haymon. Not gonna happen.

I've been saying it for years, PBC would create a chain reaction that results in HBO leaving the boxing business. Everybody thought I was crazy years ago, but I'm slowly being proven right.

They're finished and they know it. They're just gonna milk PPV for all it's worth until PPV dies and then they'll get out of boxing.

I only had HBO for BOXING. I now have Showtime. F**K HBO for deciding to abandon the sport. Is there any Information as to why HBO cut back funding for boxing? I can't see how, but were they losing money?

Because Nelson is former boxing media and he got the job all boxing media covet. Saying Nelson is doing a poor job would be an indictment on their profession. He has done a terrible job at HBO. He had no TV experience when they hired him. The HBO boxing brain trust left when he was hired because they had no confidence in him

HBO's long term battle is with Netflix and the money spent on boxing is better spent elsewhere.

HBO's battle is with everyone now.

Even Apple and Facebook look to be getting in to original programming.

And HBO has made some big mistakes recently.

I guess there probably Isn't enough subscribers that follow the sport, so they are most likely not concerned about repercussions, such as losing subscribers.

HBO's biggest mistake was not recognizing soon enough that Netflix was going to be their main competitor long term.

Of course HBO faces competition everywhere, but my point is that when HBO's main concern was Showtime, boxing was a priority because they wanted to outdo Showtime in every area.

But now that Netflix is a much bigger threat than Showtime, money spent on boxing is a waste.
