This is so good. Hunter is too loyal for that ever to have been spoken. This has to be one of the lamest Kathy Dufus ploys to get a 3rd fight. Special K's trainer is the one who was looking to jump ship. These guys are treating the boxing fans like they are ****** now. Kovalev (now Cryvalev) has become obsolete with being a poor sport. What a sad way to end a career.

JDJ has done all he could; the problerm is obviously Kovalev.

I doubt Hunter would take him. I'm not saying it wasn't said but it would not be a good move for either side imo.

I also doubt Sanchez would have him back.

      Garcia? I don't know.

I doubt Kovalev would do any better as a cruiser as he would be undersized against the top fightrers.

The second Ward fight showed some not just ohysical but mental weaknesses in Kovalev as well. The physical ones are much easier to remedy.

That would be the worst decision Kovalev would make!!! What fighter that has switched to Hunter as a trainer has he made better???? None!! Hunter is the most overrated trainer in Boxing.

Kind of like floyd, if he had no trainer you would still be picking him to win.

Like all the other guys I don't think Hunter does anything for Kovalev and now that you mention him I almost think he would be better off reaching out to Roach to train him.
Yea for sure. I can't think of a single fighter besides Ward that Hunter has done anything good for. Angulo... Berto... Fonfara... All dud pairings. Based on that alone, it would be a terrible move for Kovalev to hook up with him. But then, of the big-name trainers, who else is there? Roach is long past it. Robert Garcia maybe?

Personally, I think Virgil Hunter is a bit overrated myself. I don't consider him an elite trainer and I'm speaking honestly here. Outside of Andre Ward his best pupil, a boxer he has trained practically his entire life; What fighter has he improved since they have begun working with him?

Sure! like I'm the only person who saw the low blows or dirty tactics Ward used, the only person being delusional is you that don't want to see things as they are or just want to keep a blind eye due to Ward is your hero or something else, in my comments I didn't say anything wrong, and gave props to the fighter I know was going to win (WARD), now on their first fight Kovalev didn't lose, nor was dominated, he was stolen a decision, in the 2nd fight, again, Kovalev was dominating up till the 8th round and we got robbed of the true KO Ward could have given Kovalev, and those are facts.

About the weight drain/stamina issues, wanting to be a better fighter and even consider being coached by Virgil Hunter says a lot about the type of person he is, imagine the punching power he has + the dirty tactics Ward uses, he would be unstoppable, lol! joke aside, if he can get better defensively and have better body work, that would be amazing, props to each, both are great fighters and I for one will continue watching both fighters.

those comments he made were most un-Sergey like

and, they were **** on point, 100%

I think that Robert Garcia is a great idea for Kovalev

Could be wrong but I don't know if Robert Garcia would take him. I don't know the full details but he shouldn't have burnt bridges with JDJ because they were obviously doing something right to get to where they were at before they fought Ward. He could go back to Sanchez if he is prepared to listen but yeah I don't know.

In that region though Robert Garcia is the best trainer. When you see vidoes of his gym on Youtube when they interview him it feels like a gym a fighter would want to be part of. Just seems like it's got a good vibe there. It has quietened down a bit now but when Rios and Maidana where both there as well that gym was the place to be.

I'm liking what derrick james is doing now as well with spence, charlo and robert brant.

I don't know what Kovalev is thinking... Ward said CW was a possibility, and now Kovalev wants to move up too ?... I think he just wants to be where Ward isn't but he may find him in his path again... Poor guy ...

Shredding his contract with Main Events is a must... Maybe they should agree to let their 5 years cash cow move on for all the exposure he gave them...
