you are good poster Scott ,but from what i rember ,Cotto was favorite in many fans and Boxers/trainers eyes

I'm not dis*****g either are p4p but the pair of them don't really have anything significant to the wins Ward holds over Kovalev. Cotto beat a crippled Martinez and Canelo holds a close victory over Cotto...

I don't see what a win for GGG does over Canelo to boost GGG beyond the top 5 let alone 1st or 2nd. I accept these guys are ranked by all affiliations etc.

Ummm, nah. I think wards overall record of opponents beaten is superior to ggg and Canelos records combined.

He's right. Ward got a questionable decision in first fight with Kov and premature low-blow stoppage in rematch. Not exactly great wins by any means. GGG/Canelo are each better opposition than Kovalev, and if you start going back 5 fights they each fought better quality opposition with stronger wins.

Besides, Oscar owns Ring Magazine, you think if Canelo wins he's not going to be P4P king?

I agree that cotto win is not so big us some say ,but he wasnt a big favorite to do so ,as for Nelo best wins ,this are Lara and Trout 1# and 2# at 154 when he beaten them thats what makes him P4p for me +Cotto win as a dessert.

what is certein is that Cotto holds better wins then Kovalev ,in Fact best resume of Wards opponet ibelongs to Froch.

The Ring will install anyone Oscar demands as P4P #1. The ****ing magazine is owned by Golden Boy Promotions. It's crazy that we still take it seriously. TBRB.org is the true source. They have Golovkin 6th and Canelo 7th. I'm not sure how that puts you over a boxer that just beat the #2 P4P fighter two fights in a row.

I say it takes a very convincing KO win for either guy to remotely have a claim at #1p4p. Ward is an undefeated, two division champ who beat a p4p top 5 twice, once in convincing fashion. Either Golovkin or Canelo is going to have to beat the other badly to top that

All food for thought I suppose and I'm not questioning the wins on Canelo's record only the time surpassed since winning them because of his lacklustre choices of opposition the last 18 months and standard showing versus Chavez where I'd really have liked him to show a willingness to go through the gears and taken him out.

His wins are worthy of him being ranked highly but how long should he be able to remain at the lofty position feasting on those wins ?

Canelo has most certainly a superior resume to GGG only the manner in which ggg has won against his opponent appears to have him held in higher regard yet against a lower quality of opponent.
