Boxing gets the ugly stepchild treatment from mainstream sports networks and print magazines. Only mentioned when a huge mega-million fight is being promoted.
Well that's part of what the article is saying, ESPN just isn't showing the fights, it's going to actually invest in it. I would expect boxing to be a much more prominent portion of the ESPN platform if these fights get viewership..

Google it man. Every member of the boxing media and boxing fans everywhere knew that promotion was flaming hot garbage.

I'm glad Cliff gave PBC some credit.

So sick of seeing certain boxing "journalists"/paid promotional shills using their platform to take shots at PBC and not give them a fair shake.

Precisely the reason I want you to verify the chatter. If the best that you've got in the way of an argument is to ask me to worship at the Alter of the Lemmings and accept as a truth; innuendo and Group Think, you're in the wrong place. I'm tired of that crap. We need to start thinking for ourselves again.

The rumor is the fight was badly promoted. Do you know of what you speak or are you repeating a rumor?

Ummmm did you hear about, discuss, or see any of the principals anywhere, anytime doing anything remotely in the furtherance of the promotion of the bout??

Of course. I saw Ward and Kovalev all over ESPN promoting the fight in the leadup during the NBA Finals and otherwise and various talk shows. I saw numerous clips online and tons of articles.

                    $38.2 Million
Deetz calculated the following net amounts paid by Haymon to television networks. For the four networks listed, instead of receiving a rights fee for PBC content, Haymon paid them a grand total of $38,225,000, according to Deetz’s report. Based on available documents, it’s not clear if these are annual figures or the aggregate amount paid over time.

                    CBS: $4,225,000
                    ESPN: $8,000,000
                    FOX: $12,500,000
                    NBC: $13,500,000

Al Haymon, the reclusive manager of boxer Floyd Mayweather Jr., has aggressively been buying TV time to telecast fight cards as part of a daring strategy to revive the sport by tapping into a new, younger audience.

This "analysis" is idiotic. Any junior financial analyst will tell you that a company's valuation is based on discounted cash flows. Since PBC has no fixed TV deals as of this second, the value of the shares are of course low as CAPEX is outlaid. Any fixed TV deal would flip these numbers instantly. This is simply mind-blowingly biased and absolutely terrible "journalism"..
