Yep this year has been great. I'm a big fan of Pacquiao and Crawford and I've been praying nightly to Uncle Bob that a fight between them happens in November. If it does I'm dropping money on some damn good seats.

I have a theory why things are going so well in 2017.

              Fans became smarter.

Adonis Stevenson example shows that it's not possible to just milk a title anymore. His viewing figures are as low as it gets.

And if my theory is correct, Mayweather - McGregor should be a fantastic failure.

We will find out soon enough...

Boxing was just getting over the damage mayweather caused ....and now he's back to kill it off with this boring joke of a fight

Anyway, about the article: pretty good! Boxing will never die imo (although it will have its moments). I got high hopes for future fights like Golovkin-Alvarez, which will put boxing on the map.
Boxing is back in a major way this year. If PBC gets a FOX deal in addition to Showtime/CBS, look out. We could be looking at a medium to big fight every weekend throughout the year.

Dang UFC seems like its on life support this year. What a difference a year makes. Their ratings and PPV buys are really stinking up the joint.

Boxing will never see its former glory days in terms of popularity, but I don't see it dying anytime soon either. It will always be a fringe sport to the casual sports fan, and never be as big as NFL, MLB, NBA, etc. Though, there are big fights that come along each year that can rival big league sports championships, and top boxers can earn as much as any big league sports athlete, not many fans are paying attention to the small venues fought between two unknowns. Meanwhile, MNF can pair up two teams no one gives a shyt about (Titans vs. Jaguars or some shyt) and still pull in ratings.
