That fight was built on two very good young undefeated champion fighters fighting to see who is better. There was never any mention in the build up about this being about two top 10 p4p fighters.

Plus people are going on and on about Chico being top 5 p4p in that fight. Thats a pretty high ranking if he truly was. But after that fight he dropped out of the p4p rankings and never came back to being top 10 again. That a sign of being true top 5 p4p stuff huh.
Yeah, you clearly weren't watching boxing back then. Can't say I'm surprised tbh. The amount of backtracking and swerving you've done here is ridiculous.

    He wasn't top 5 p4p doe...
    That's a boxrec list doe...
P4p wasn't important back then doe...

    Embarrassing stuff.

      LOL Pure nonsense.
Diego Corrales looked dead at 130 lbs. He failed to make weight on his first attempt, scaling two pounds over the junior lightweight limit. An hour later, after some downtime in a sauna, Corrales made the weight. By the time the bout began, Corrales had rehydrated to the tune of 146 lbs., although some of that weight could be attributed to a large club sandwich Corrales was seen scarfing in his dressing room a few hours before fight time. Once the fight began, Corrales appeared lethargic and later in the bout, his skinny legs frequently buckled under Mayweather's pinpoint accuracy.

I've read that before and I'm not buying it. Corrales fought in that division for three more years after that fight and won another title. That's not what a weight drained fighter does if he doesn't have to. The only time the issue of being weight drained came up was after a loss. A convenient excuse.

Forreal. Worked his way back down to 130 to win a title and defended it befoee moving up. In short, he stopped fighting at 130 completely four years after the Mayweather fight.

Brown, Gainer, Roberto Garcia, and Manfredy wins got him a big buzz. Stopping Gainer, Garcia, and Manfredy, his size, percived talent, toughness and punching power put him in as a favorite against Floyd who was a hot commodity in the known circles. Floyd ruined him pretty much.

I'm glad to get a different perspective. I think Floyd's W was clearly one of his best of his career. There is no doubt this was a prime Corrales and all Floyd can do is fight the guy in front of him.

I think you make a solid point about Corrales fighting in the same division after this fight. It is hard to argue then that he shouldn't have made weight comfortably. It is also known though that he did struggle to make weight for the fight. He missed weight on his first attempt. He had to come back in and drop 2 pounds, that's not an insignificant amount. So why did he miss when it appears that he could make that weight. Well probably had something to do with all his personal issues going on. The man was likely going to jail so I'm guessing that had something to do with him coming in as he did.

While I think Corrales was prime when he faced Mayweather I'm not sure he was prime that night. I think he was also a better fighter after his stint in the joint. He didn't fight for two years after the Mayweather fight. The guy who fought Castillo in their first fight was the best Chico I'd ever seen because I think he was mentally more tough. Of course after that fight he and Castillo were never the same fighters or people again. They literally destroyed themselves in that fight. Still best fight I've ever seen.

New boxing fans who can't do their research when breaking down resumes are annoying.

Diego Corrales was one of the best fighters in boxing when Floyd beat him, he was ranked #5 P4P while Floyd was ranked #8 P4P. They were both undefeated, both the best at 130, both top 10 P4P, Corrales seen as a slightly better fighter.

                      That's why it's a good win.
