His Castillo fight is rewatchable and one of the most entertaining fights in boxing history. He was outclassed by Mayweather and may have not have been elite, but neither was Gatti, but that doesn't make them any less special. They entertained us and were brilliant for the sport and gave fans reasons to tune in. I don't like this new trend of bashing past fighters because they were less skilful than todays boxers. Some deserve to be bashed if they were both average AND boring, but if they were entertaining then they deserve their place in history.

Chico just got released from jail for beating up his grade/wife, dealing with all that stress, and everyone and their mama knew he wasn't a 130 lb. fighter anymore, and was killing himself to make the weight, and only took the fight for money.

Corrales was a beast, undefeated, huge with a very high knockout percentage that had just battered Robert Garcia and solid fighters such as Manfredy and Gainer. He also bounced back well and beat Cassamayor who was a top notch amateur for many, many years and two weight world champion back before they started giving away World titles for the hell of it. He beat Freitas an undefeated top P4P huge puncher and who can forget his memorable wars with Castillo?
He fought all the elite, the true killers at their very best and beat most of them by K.O at that.
People these days are like ''oh he beat Martin Murray who is a good win'' to big up their favourite fighter, this is an example then they'll question who others beat but its like you're talking up Murray, or whoever and they're not even as good as a Gainer who is barely even in this guys top 10 wins.
Go back watch these older generation of fighters who didn't have all the luxuries of todays generation and look at their skills. Look at the gatekeepers today people talk up then look back at all these forgotten gatekeepers they had back then. If most of those fought today they would probably be picking up world titles.

Diego Corrales was a decent fighter and a multiple weight alphabet champion. He basically lost every big fight he was in. His biggest "wins" include a gift against Joel Casamayor and TKO of Jose Luis Castillo in which he should have been DQ'd for spitting his mouthpiece out.

What about Garcia? Freitas? If Freitas was around today he's the type of guy you'd be all claiming as the goat and claim he scared Floyd into retirement.
Corrales beat 3 top P4P fighters - Castillo, Casscamayor, Freitas, possibly top 5 when they was at their best. Name me one active fighter that has done this currently let alone to the quality those were.
Multiple world champions, several of which was world champions in multiple weights back when they wasn't just giving titles out for fun. Back when divisions had actual depth.
