BIG difference there, you cannot say the same about Saunders

honestly, this is typical Boxingscene bullshht

you are bashing Saunders commitment/resume, whilst ignoring Golovkin's lack of commitment and the fact that he has publicly refused NUMEROUS big fights

who cares about Saunders, he is irrelevant, and he will be stripped soon.....
I was only talking about Saunders this whole time, I'm not sure why you brought up Golovkin when that is another conversation. I'm not bashing the guy, he earned the title but since then he hasn't defended it or followed the rules, with help from the WBO. He has avoided major challenges, whether you think it is his fault or not and at least now, finally, it seems that he will face a decent test.

While I also agree that Saunders is somewhat irrelevant now, the WBO belt is very relevant for someone wishing to become undisputed champion at middleweight. You can be sure that if Golovkin and Canelo don't have a rematch, both fighters will be chasing that WBO belt, so whoever has it will be in for a major payday. So until he loses that title he is not totally irrelevant.

BJ Saunders needs a dance partner and David Lemieux is also in the looking stage.

After those two got into it on social media, it looked and felt like maybe things could go from the jawing stage to the actual scrapping sphere.

Saunders is promoted by Frank Warren and was supposed to battle to defend his WBO 160 pound crown July 8 against Avtandil Khurtsidze. That went off the rails when two weeks ago the Russian Khurtsidze was swept up in a raid on folks alleged to be dealing in organized crime.

So Saunders is now re-readying himself for combat. He has chosen a date in September, the 16th. And he showed fighting spirit in attending the Monday London presser to hype the Canelo Alvarez-Gennady Golovkin clash in Las Vegas. That, too, is unfolding on Sept. 16. Saunders got points for trying to stir the pot at the presser, arguably, but he was rebuffed by Canelo, who labeled Saunders portly. And GGG merrily sneered that BJ was offered a scrap with Golovkin, but lost his pen.

Which brings us back to Saunders vs Lemieux. The Canadian sounded ready to rumble, ASAP, when he sent out this social media smackdown aimed at BJ.

So I checked in with Eric Gomez of Golden Boy, Lemieux’ promoter.

Is this something that could happen, ****er Lemieux (38-3; age 28; last fought in a May) against Saunders (24-0; age 27; fought once in 2016, hasn’t fought in 2017), the Traveller with a sharp mouth and enough talent to bring him the ‘BO strap?

        “Someday,” Gomez replied.

“It’s not being worked on currently,” he added. “We have many ideas for Lemieux but nothing immediate.”

"Lemieux has been outboxed by fighters who were not as good as Saunders"

Like who has he lost to that weren't as good as Saunders? Lemieux lost to GGG of course but surely GGG is better than Saunders.

His 2nd other loss was to Joachim Alcine, at least as good or better than Saunders; in fact he's a former WBA Middleweight Champion. Even here, Lemieux was leading early in the fight, scoring multiple power punches to Alcine's head, but after giving it all trying to KO Alcine early on, Lemieux had nothing left in the late rounds. One judge had the fight even 114-114 while the other two gave Alcine a wider margin. Still, it was very close and even the TV announcer on that fight said he would not have liked to have to be a judge to score the fight. Maybe Alcine outboxed him but it only started to look like that when Lemieux got exhausted.

David 1st loss was to Marco Rubio, arguably not as good as Saunders, but again here, David's condition was the deciding factor-- he gassed out, he did not get outboxed. He got KO'ed, but before he swung himself to exhaustion he was soundly beating Rubio.

"Lemieux last match was bad and commentators were saying he would have lost if it was a 12 rounder"

Lemieux hurt his right hand in the 2nd round of that fight. You can see it when it happened if you watch the video. Even with the bad hand he made Reyes face look like hell.

              * Kell Brook is not way more popular than Saunders

              Brook was/is NOT a draw

NOBODY had ever referred to Kell Brook as a draw until after Golovkin selected him..... you guys completely made that up

Kell Brook was a relatively unknown welter, who had never participated in a PPV event, and who was not a draw

Hearn said he had never made a cent off Kell Brook
Saunders couldn't fill a ballroom his last fight. Eubank Jr. was a way big draw than him, and when Eubank refused to sign, Kell Brook was a big enough draw to step in and make himself and Golovkin two huge checks. The proof is in what they walked away with, I didn't make up Kell Brook's % of the uk ppv and gate. GGG made 5 guaranteed and Kell got between 4-5. -totalsporttek, reddit.

Golovkin only made 2.5 to Jacob's 1.75 so yeah, he's not demanding 75% of the purse, he's actually reasonable. Saunders doesn't draw anyone but wanted to make more that Golovkin.

Although BJS is the more skilled of the two I can see Lemieux blasting him out. When Eubank Jr actually kicked it into gear and pressured BJS he started to unravel, Lemieux does this from the get go and has an extremely high workrate.
Get your facts right. it was a 10 rounder. and his opponent was picking him up in last 2 rounds, cause he gassed out

Are you seriously gonna keep this going? You completely ****ed up and got the fight wrong and you still won't admit it? Yet you are telling me to get my facts right?

The last 2 rounds his opponent was completely gassed and seriously hurting, his punches had nothing left in them and Lemieux kept dishing out punishment. I was waiting for Reyes' corner to throw in the towel.

Explain to me how Lemieux would've lost on the cards if it went for 2 more rounds? The judges had it 99-90 99-90 98-91 at the end.

Please explain the mental and mathematical gymnastics you need to perform to have Lemieux losing a decision.

Now you just flat out lying. The only criticism was that Lemieux didn't knock this guy out. But he literally won everyone round maybe 1 sympathy round you could give to Reyes who took a massive beating. A lot of heart that kid has never been knocked out and Lemieux hurt his hand so he survived to the final bell. But nobody said he was winning rounds or threatening to win the fight Lemieux won by wide decision by all judges. Lemieux performance against Reyes >>>> Saunders against unknown bum Akavov who isn't even on Boxrec's top 30 middleweight rankings. Saunders stunk up the joint and had to sweat out a decision that could of gone either way. Saunders literally got the scare of a lifetime against a bum. Lemieux hurt his hand and still basically won every round.
