Now that I look at it again, you may be right.

    Oh well... TKO8.

He was still standing, avoiding, throwing and moving after that so called devastating right that Ward landed flush...

You call getting tagged with 17 punches in 35 seconds avoiding? Ward was hitting him at will, Kov was trying to hold and when he couldn't started running. The man was done, especially after Ward ripped him with a 3 punch combo to the head and body, he landed a massive left hook right to the ribs.

absolutely positive that is irrelevant, because Kovalev was done
WTF?!!! You idiots are seriously saying that because you believe a fighter is "done", the fact that his opponent KO's him with a low blow is irrelevant?

And you expect people to take your opinions seriously after that?

This is the last punch of the fight. Whatever happened before this, Kovalev hadn't been down and he didn't go down till he was hit below the belt by Ward.

There is no way to interpret either the rules of boxing, or what happens in a boxing match, which can justify the referee stopping a fight and immediately awarding the win to a guy who has just dropped his opponent with a low blow.

You're right. It looks like the silver glove on the gut area is Kovalev's. Ward is wearing red gloves so it has to be Kovalev trying to protect the gut because thats where he was already hurt from the previous punches he received. But I'm still not convinced that the punch landed in between is legs. That clip that people keep trying to use as evidence of a low blow shows Ward's glove brush over the B on Kovalev's crotch but that doesn't mean that the punch necessarily landed there. I think the punch is still arching upward.

Here is a lowblow from Round 7 that the ref totally ignored:

And here is that final lowblow upon which the ref called the fight. It did a lot more than simply brush the B. It makes Kovalev's whole body go upwards. It's a full swing uppercut to the groin.

Never mind. Upon further review its clear to me that the punch is indeed low.

..... is it possible that Tony Weeks may have given Ward the benefit of the doubt regarding that last punch..... considering the fact that Kovalev was done..... but especially considering the fact that he caught Kovalev attempting to fake a foul off two LEGIT body-shots moments earlier..... ?

but, FAR more importantly..... why did that not occur to you?

if you are knowledgeable and experienced enough to tell an experienced vet how to do his job, I would have thought you may have noticed that?

or, were you in too much of a hurry to pull the trigger at Ward?

I agree that the fight should have continued, but give it a rest

Kova aint crying as much as you b1tches, he knows what happened

Weeks was in the act of stopping it

most of his mental checkbox's had been ticked

Weeks is waaaaay more experienced than you are kid

                      and he was there

how many times have you seen an experienced vet turn his back toward his opponent?

that is justification for a stoppage right there

you see it more often in the am's, and quite often with white-collar boxing..... but how many times have you seen a battle-hardened vet do that?

Kovalev turned his back on Ward TWICE in round 8

how many times have you seen a battle-hardened vet do that?

the first time was at the START of round 8

Weeks saw that, and he knows the game inside out..... he possesses instincts about this game that you don't even know exist..... this is LITERALLY an inexperienced boy telling a grown man how to do his job

on top of that (and here is the REAL point that you are missing) not long after Kovalev first turned his back to Ward, Kovalev attempted to fake a foul off TWO legit bodyshots

WEEK's NOTICED THAT AS WELL, YOU GENIUS

how do we know those body-shots were legal?

because you can clearly see them in this gif.....

Weeks judged that those body-shots were legit, so he saw Kovalev try to fake a foul

come on, Weeks absolutely knew that Kovalev was hurt and looking for a way out..... as you can see in that gif

oh, and then Weeks noticed Ward land a HUGE right-hand that wobbled Kovalev

then Weeks noticed Kovalev take numerous unanswered punches

and ALL of that happened before the last punch that slipped low

so I am saying that Weeks had his finger on the trigger, because he could see that Kovalev was done, and he may have missed the fact that THE VERY LAST PUNCH in the detailed novel explained for your dumb ass above, strayed low

                      ----------------------------------------

                      sidenote, and..... the REAL issue

                      1) you chose to ignore all of the information above, and focus solely on the very last punch..... which is ******ed, clearly illogical and biased, and obviously intended to disparage Ward

                      2) if you clowns had the slightest bit of class, you would admit that Tony Weeks saw Kovalev attempt to fake a foul after TWO legit bodyshots..... and that he may have decided to give Ward the benefit of the doubt on that last punch because of the way Kovalev tried to take a dive.... but oh no, you would prefer to throw Weeks under a bus in order to bash Ward

all because Ward punked your pacifist girlfriend LMAO
