Yeah, this fight's not touching Pac/Floyd.correct. not to mention alienating the latino fan base.
they are going after the casual white viewer. guess what? white people are not ******. they aren't paying no god damn 100 bucks to watch their guy lose.
data back this. they never buy the PPV when the white dude is lopsided underdog.
This fight is a cash grab, exhibition fight. Yeah, it's gonna be huge, sales wise, but nowhere near Floyd/Pac. Floyd/Pac had all the same recipes as Floyd/Conor, except it was legit competitive, and actually meant something.
I've seen way too many people saying there's no way they're paying $100 for this garbage fight for me to believe it'll come close to Pac/Floyd. With Pac/Floyd, all I saw were, "where are you gonna watch the fight, and what are you eating?" threads.
With this fight, it's more like, "are you actually buying this fight?"Comment

What are you smoking? EVERYONE bought that fight. Even the most die hard MMA fans, and non boxing fans. Even people that hated boxing. Even people like Taylor Swift. Almost no one said how this is a complete waste of time, and just a cash grab. This had everything you wanted, and then some. The entertainment factor, and the competition factor.
Are you not getting my point? There's already way too many people saying how this is a glorified exhibition match that's nothing but a cash grab.
Your point about everyone that watches combat sports is completely invalid, because the diehards are completely against this. That wasn't the case with Pac/Floyd.
The Pac/Floyd fight was being talked about by everyone and their mamas that were into combat sports, whether kickboxing, MMA, karate, kung fu, boxing, water polo, etc.
My point isn't that this isn't gonna be mega mega successful. My point is, it's not gonna come close to 5 million buys. Pac/Floyd, OMG, finally, let's see who wins?
Floyd/Mac, OMG, this is finally happening, but also, this is a garbage ass fight, I would never in my life pay $100 for this. There's too much of that reaction for it to be comparable to Pac/Floyd.Comment

I think press tours and whatnot are outdated now. Whats the point in going place to place when you can reach everyone via internet. All they need is some press conferences, a show like All Access and both guys selling the fight to the media throughout camp because it'll all end up on youtube and social media anyway.
Everyone who would be interested already knows it's happening. As long as people are interested anyway and the fighters are known, then i'm not sure you need 4 or 5 months to sell a fight in 2017. If anything, i think it would lose steam by November in this instance.Comment

Dude you are right, but it has caught the attention of the public eye. Conor is a huge star, broken through to different platforms, all soccer fans love him, he might be such a strong draw that he'll transcend from so many different sports. Everyone and their mom watched Pac - May, still I already feel that the casuals that I know (everyone I know) is talking about this fight. Somehow they know more about this one than Pac and May. I agree that the 500 hardcore boxing fans here, says that they wont watch it, but we both know that they will. When the hype train starts rolling and if the pressconferences live up to the expectations, I believe we are in for a perhaps record breaking stat. What are you smoking? EVERYONE bought that fight. black america will support him, they always do, they'd pay money to watch him shadow box on ppv.Comment

What does being black have to do with it? You don't think proud Irishmen will buy it? How about all the MMA fans? See, McGregor is really loved by some and really hated by others, therefore, people who want to see him land a potentially lucky punch will watch it, and others want to see him get his ass beat...if you had half a brain and eyes that weren't blocked by gaylovekins b@llsac, you'd be able to see and comprehend. Just knock off the race ****. It's beyond ridiculous.
P.S. you're a fuggin toolComment

Bro, you're literally making **** up. WTF are you talking about, it's so big, even soccer fans will watch it? Dude, Pac/Floyd was so big, even soccer fans, water polo fans, golf fans, EVERYONE watched Pac/Floyd. Conor doesn't reach some other audience. Everyone and their mama knew Pacquiao as well, except this was the fight of the century.Dude you are right, but it has caught the attention of the public eye. Floyd/Mac is literally, a cash grab, which is going to be successful, but not a competition in which the world HAS to see who wins. This is just a fun fight.
Where you fail is, thinking Conor has an even bigger casual appeal. The combination of Floyd and Pac > Floyd/Mac, because this was boxing's superbowl. This was a contest.
And no, it's not just 500 fans on this site. The majority of fans on Sherdog are also ****ting on it. And 500 is some made up number. When the general consensus for BOTH sports, boxing AND MMA have such a back lash towards this, it's NOT GOING TO COME CLOSE to Pac/Floyd.
If you're argument is, it's gonna be insanely successful, and be an epic event, of course. No one's arguing that. But there's no real drama, or intrigue to it like Pac/Floyd. That alone subtracts a **** ton of buys. The casual fan won't HAVE TO see who wins live. It's nothing but a fun fight that everyone knows Floyd's gonna win, and people are gonna watch to just see what happens for ****s and giggles.
In the case of Pac/Floyd. People have to see what happens for the historical context of the biggest combat sport event in the history of fighting. Boxing and MMA. The fight was that damn big. And I'm talking about in the PPV/social media era. Not saying Pac/Floyd was the biggest fight ever. I can't really confirm that. I'm sure Ali/Frazier 1 would've been bigger if it were in the PPV/social media era.Comment

Some people are crazy if they think this fight breaks 5 million PPV buys.
Hell, even Sherdog (most popular MMA message board) has a thread on this very topic, and the consensus is, it's not gonna come close to Pac/Floyd.Last edited by CatchAndShoot; 06-17-2017, 12:34 PM.Comment
