Just a brothers honest opinion on GGG-Canelo

Okay, let's get one thing out of the way. Why can't all of us (both Team Canelo & Team GGG) stop targeting each other and just appreciate the fact that this fight is ACTUALLY happening this year? I mean, it's been a few years since MAYPAC and we all remember how that went down. Boxing fans had a bitter taste in their mouths for a while and pay per view took a major hit, as well.

But now with AJ-Klitschko, Ward-Kovalev 2, Broner-Garcia & so on, boxing is having a fabulous upswing!! Let's take a moment to appreciate how boxing has kicked MMAs butt this year

Onto my HONEST opinion on canelo-ggg: Let's all agree that both canelo AND ggg have never faced a step up in opposition the way they will this September (Bar mayweather ofc). Canelo has never faced a fully fledged powerful middleweight like Golovkin. His only fight at 160 was against a past his prime Cotto.
On the other hand, Golovkin has never faced someone as skilled as Canelo Alvarez in terms of experience, and the level of opposition he has faced. He fought Floyd as a young kid and has come a long way since.

However, I strongly do believe that once Canelo tastes the power of GGG (allegedly the same power as that of a light heavyweight), we might see him shell up a little bit. GGGs jabs might be key in keeping him at bay. If you haven't seen Golovkin-Jacobs, then watch it. And rewatch it again until you realise how efficient golovkins Jab was against him.

Also, STYLES MAKE FIGHTS. So we can't judge any of them based on their previous performances. Jacobs is not Chavez. Enough said.

Canelo fans have to realise that since Canelo is more of a speedy fighter, he invests a lot of energy and stamina into those flashy combinations, which requires him to take rests between rounds. This can be his Kryptonite as ggg fights at an insanely high pace and pressures you till he finds the right moment to let those bombs go.

My official prediction: GGG by TKO in either 10, 11 or 12.
I pick a late round since Canelo is a proud Mexican fighter and he won't go down without a heck of a fight. Granted, he's gonna win some rounds but GGGs superior power and stamina will get him the W.

Canelo fans, I expect you to come up with a deep and valid argument..which might even change my perspective on some things.

Also if you don't appreciate gggs fighting style - pressuringand beating the manhood out of his opponents - then your just a plain hater my friend.

The educated ggg fans also realise the threat that Canelo brings forward.

This is a very good synopsis and nicely detailed! This got me thinking about how fan bases which consist of fanboys and genuine boxing fans will debate for months on end as to who will win and the fact is, everyone envisions the match up in their mind and they see a clear winner, often based on either bias or a real analysis.

The ones who typically get it right are those who are unbiased and not fanboys. But what is always crazy is the back and forth debates almost always end with one side gloating and the other side either hiding out or making an excuse why their fighter lost unless it is clear cut but even then there is denial. On one day a fan will be extremely embarrassed, disheartened, or angry.....and then for another fight, that fan gets it right and gets to ride high of of a correct pick. Its a never ending scene that plays out over the years. An fan who rubs it in the faces of others because they made the right pick will get it rubbed in their face when they dont.

And you are very right about judging on last fights. I stopped counting how many fighters before their match up were in a situation where one guy looked better than the other and made their picks, placed their bets based on that. Example, Rigo was clearly hurt twice by Merroquin and Donaire had some powerful KO's. Many assumed that Donaire would blow out Rigo which never happened. Many said that Jones had a weak chin and would not be able to take Trinidad's power just before the match up. And then triangle theories come in and can you imagine how much money we could make betting against someone who believes that if fighter A beats fighter B and fighter B beats fighter C that fighter C would lose to fighter A? I'd be rich.

As to the winner of this fight, I see both guys with the capacity to hurt and outbox each other but I think Canelo will be very brave in fighting back against pain will but lose via decision or late stoppage. I would not be shocked if the reverse happened. But I think GGG wins.

yeah powers going to be the main factor. simply put, one fighter (golovkin) has double the fire power of the other and they are both hittable. its not hard to work out whats going to happen. late stoppage by golovkin.

Very good post bro! Golovkin's jab is gonna be the key and will frustrate Canelo all night. Golovkin wins 8 rounds to 4 by decision or late stoppage

Awesome post, brother. Very objective, probably the best, unbiased prediction of the fight that I've read here. That's pretty much how I see the fight going.

As a GGG fan, I know Canelo is a big threat. I'm confident GGG can take Canelo's best punch, but if he eats too many of them he'll definitely get broken down himself.

I think Golovkin wins late and Canelo gives a warrior's effort and wins back a lot of the respect from fans that he lost throughout years.

Speed is ggg's advantage. GGG's feet are much much faster than canelo's. Canelo has faster hands, but in boxing feet > hands all day long. GGG can outbox his opponents from the outside with a jab. Canelo can't.

Fair analysis. I see this as a 50/50 fight. They will each be up against their toughest challenge to date.
