Joe Smith has a great story but I imagine anyone born in Cuba who makes it into the US has an incredible story as well.

Ah that one's tough. I really like both fighters.

This whole division has a lot to like.

This. I love underdogs who give it their all.

I like Barrera, he's a very good boxer, but I have to root for the blue collar firefighter.

I respect Joe Smith for being a Union Laborer but in New York, he's probably making decent money especially if he has been doing it for a few years. Probably at least $34 an hour which is about 70k per year. He is actually one of the few (non-rich) boxers who has excellent health benefits, a pension plan, etc. It is tough work, but he isn't going to starve if his boxing career gets derailed. He's in a good position.

This will seem strange .. but that's the the reason I'll be rooting for Barrera!

He was a big underdog vs Ward, and I liked all the trash talk he did on twitter, which probably goaded Ward into accepting the fight on the terms Barrara wanted. He was payed a lot more than Ward expected to give any of his tune-up opponents, imo.

I love a good Cinderella story, but I just ain't at all sold on Smith, not only that but the dude has a union job to fall back on whereas AFAIK Barrera has zip except boxing.

I think I'm rolling with Sullivan on this one, to root for and to win.
