No! I don't really think race has anything to do with popularity when you are a athlete! The sheeple in society will follow whoever is in power and has the highest status! Certain people are fans of Usain Bolt but know nothing about Track and Field athletics, some people where fans of Floyd Mayweather but knew nothing about the history of boxing! It has nothing to do with race! sometimes i think being a minority in a sport can help you, look at Lewis Hamilton & Tiger Woods.
