Mayweather was right about Virgil Hunter.

Hunter is one of the better trainers around, that doesn't mean he can make every single fighter he trains more effective. It's a tough job and the fighter is ultimately responsible for his performance.

The difference: no Virgil Hunter in the corner throwing towels back then.

Could you imagine Hunter training Angulo? MF'er would never see round 6 again.
He did train angulo against canelo, and ironic enough that's the one fight he refused to throw the towel and let his fighter get beaten to a pulp. That fight went about 4 rounds longer then it should and might be why now he is quick to throw the towel. Lmao

It turned out to be a non-fight. Just one guy punching the other guy until the corner threw in the towel.

I've been there, it was just one of those moments where out of all the fighters to choose from you actually brought up someone he did train.

I think Fonfara just never fully recovered, and Hunter knew it, vs Angulo just getting beat up, but mentally and physically he was still there.

Fonfara got beat with one arm/punch. Reminded me of Jacobs/Quillin but with one extra round.

Most of you don't even understand how training works. You probably watch too much Dragon Ball Z or something.

You like pointing fingers at some trainers and letting other trainers slide when they can't change a fighter either.
Considering that Roger is responsible for the greatest fighter of the generation, he's cemented.

Senior isn't a good trainer despite what he says - evident by what happened with Ricky Hatton against Manny.

Hunter isn't a bad trainer. His mannerisms makes it easy to tune him out but if a fighter has the patience to listen to him he makes good boxing sense.

I have been of that opinion for a while. He seems to try to turn fighters into something they are not, instead of working with what he gets and they show up all confused. I began thinking this after watching him give terrible advice to Angulo.
