Mayweather was right about Virgil Hunter.

Did we forget, he got dropped and repeatedly tagged by Stevenson in the first fight? But he weathered the storm and managed to drop Stevenson in kind.

The difference: no Virgil Hunter in the corner throwing towels back then.

Could you imagine Hunter training Angulo? MF'er would never see round 6 again.

A trainer is only as good as the raw material he is starting with, and sometimes that raw material is not their forte in molding.

If you give a master sculptor marble or granite they can do wonders but if you give them oil paints or water colors they will probably not turn out quality art.

Fonfara is not going to drastically change, and he is not even the kind of guy I would expect Hunter to really mesh well with.

The thing is, apart from Ward, has he had success with anyone else? He talks a good game but which fighters have showed actual improvement?

Chinny guys like Khan, Fonfara, Berto go to him to improve their defence but all have been KOd in their last fights, admittedly against better fighters who can all crack.

Which is exactly Floyd's point. And Ward arguably lost against Kovalev, got dropped and outboxed at points in the fight.

I can't recollect one success story from the dude. Only worse trainer I can think of is Joel "I'MA STOP IT!!!" Diaz.

You can't teach an old dog new tricks.

Give a kid to Hunter or any trainer and allow them to train them from amateur to pro and you'll see different results.

Actually, yes. I forgot about that. He must have left ringside while Canelo was treating his fighter like a punching bag. Either that or Angulo is the reason he now threw the towel for Fonfara.

I think Quillin should think twice about staying with Hunter. Could see him getting knock out right away lol

                    I didn't watch it because it's a non-fight. So what happened?

Ask Floyd what fighters has Roger or Senior trained and made them great.

You want to know who's a really good trainer regardless of which 20 something year old fighter comes to him? Robert Garcia. He's the only trainer who i've seen legitimately train dudes and make them better.

Most of you don't even understand how training works. You probably watch too much Dragon Ball Z or something.

You like pointing fingers at some trainers and letting other trainers slide when they can't change a fighter either.
