I don't think the eye played any part at all, the body punches however did all the damage, he didn't want anymore because he couldn't take anymore. The eye wasn't shut, cut or blood wasn't going into that eye. He saw a way out with that eye and took it. He could see clearly before and after.
Brook quit, was gassed going to get stopped.

Whether it was his eye, or he gassed...after round 8 he had nothing. I thought i heard him tell his trainer something about being tired after round 8, not sure tho. Either way, i don't recall a time where I've seen a fighter just pack it in so abruptly...usually it's more gradual. It was still tit for tat right up until that point, then brook just folded up.Comment

He hit Spence with his best and it did little to nothing. Kell was getting beaten up in there and took the easy out.Comment

Kell fought his ass off and fought bravely but yes I agree that he did surrender. I don't blame him at all though, he had nothing but I was rooting for him to finish the fight on his feet.Comment

He quit.
I don't falt him for it but it is what it is. You could see that he was getting tired and when he raised his hand after the knockdown, I knew what was coming.
You could tell that he was more concerned with people thinking he had guts which told me he'd stop fighting when he felt he had an excuse people would respect.
I personally don't fault him. I will always say that boxing is a sport first and foremost. When a fighter shows heart beyond what is expected, they will get a special type of admiration but nothing is lost when that is not there.Comment

I agree 100%. neither eye was closed and he could see well enough. He just wanted Spence to quit hitting him so he quit. Of course if he had not quit Spence would still have won by KO in a few seconds anyway but Brook would have gone out like more of a warrior and less of a quitter.Comment

His eye looked the same as his other eye did in the GGG fight and it was definitely broken then.
Matthysse did the same thing and he came through injuries before. Only the fighter knows what they are feeling.
End of the day if he legitimately couldnt see or was seeing double (ive had eye injuries before and it is definitely possible) and he was facing a relentless hard hitting accurate pucnher like Spence, who are we to say he shouldnt stop the fight? Or that it was due to other factors?Comment

Surely we need to wait until hes had scans and such before making those kind of judgements?

How did you know he couldn't see? Because he said so? Because he was blinking to make it look obvious? His eye looks good enough to see for me. He quit because of the sustain body pressure from what I could see not because of the eye.... the eye was the excuse needed to make him look like a warrior, this is what happens when you fight mediocre opposition.Comment
