I don't think the eye played any part at all, the body punches however did all the damage, he didn't want anymore because he couldn't take anymore. The eye wasn't shut, cut or blood wasn't going into that eye. He saw a way out with that eye and took it. He could see clearly before and after.Comment

Pretty much this^^^, the problem is a lot of these posters don't like the truth. I can live with the truth. I cut it the way i see it.Comment

Kell showed a lot of heart to get through the 10th round but yeah he quit. The eye was an excuse, I don't buy he couldn't see out of it. It was not closed shut or even close to being shut. He got the life beaten out of him. We have all seen way worse eye or face damage than that. Not a good way to go out. Although it's easy for us to say that sitting behind a keyboard!lol.
With all the mouthing off coming from kell I don't have much sympathy. Also I guess he showed balls to fight GGG but in reality I thought it was dumb as ****. He is in one of the best divisions in boxing and apart from Porter he pretty much ain't fought anybody. It was a ****** pointless move. Risk your unbeaten record against a way bigger man like GGG. One of the ******est moves in recent years.Last edited by stefjonno1; 05-28-2017, 06:18 AM.Comment

How did you know he couldn't see? Because he said so? Because he was blinking to make it look obvious? His eye looks good enough to see for me. He quit because of the sustain body pressure from what I could see not because of the eye.... the eye was the excuse needed to make him look like a warrior, this is what happens when you fight mediocre opposition.
I dont know anything for sure, but then neither do you. Until he gets scans and x-rays then none of us know how bad the injury was. All im saying is that only Brook knows how he felt in that moment.
Sounds dumb but i got hit in the eye by a football once, i full on couldn't see out of that eye for about 5-10 minutes. No swelling, nothing was broken. To the outside world i could easily have been making the injury up, but i couldnt see. How would i have reacted to that in a boxing ring, with a young powerful accurate fighter targeting that eye?
Its easy to sit here and say oh well he didnt look that injured. Whole different story when its you inside the ropes taking the shots.Comment

To people talking about how closed his eye was, Matthysse had far worse looking eye injuries than the one that stopped him vs Postol. He fought with one eye shut many times. I didnt look that bad vs VP, yet in this one he quit.
Only the fighter knows how bad the injury is, or how it feels.Comment

Obviously he quit.
I don't think its a definite he was getting stopped doe. I think if he'd been able to mentally push forward through the injury, concern of the injury & probably doubt he may very well have lasted to a decision. But he wasn't so he didn't.
I suspect when push came to shove in that fight Brook was thinking about some very real consequences with these sorta injuries & what he's just been through which probably made him quit in a more submissive way then one woulda expected of him in this fight going in.
I think the Bellew talk was a lil rough for some casual fans & probably even some hardcore fans, but it does tend to hold true. You gotta be ready to die in the ring or at very least be more willing to give & take more than your opponent & that was the main battle Brook lost last night.
Respect still to both guys doe, I thought Brook did very well early & I thought Spence came on great late & with Brook's real life looking a whole lot better then its probably ever looked with all these big fight paydays coming in lately it sorta goes with the territory that one loses a bit of the dog in you when you got the nice car, the nice house, the sexy wife/gf (the downlow brother in Brook's case, I kid I kid you p#ssies), the kids, the satin sheets & PJ's, the bank account with more digits then a man with an extra hand & all that sh^t going your way. It takes a special fighter to have all that & train & fight like your broke & ultimately Brook wasn't THAT special I think its safe to say.
Randomly the most hilarious thing in this is how pissed off Hearn is. Dude is trying so hard to be his jovial & go lightly type self public persona he gots going on that he's been as of late with so many things going his way, but dude has went in hard on Allen & Brook in a couple of the vids I've seen post-fight. And he seemed like he was ready to Leon Lawson a random mfer at that Spence post-fight presser.Comment
