People who say that Tyson isn't overrated I'm gonna put it this way ok stop it right there. lets change it around. How about if I ask these questions, People say Lennox, Vitaly, Wladamir isn't overated i'm gonna put it this way;

Is Lennox, Vitaly, Wladamir the best boxer since Ali?

Is Lennox, Vitaly, Wladamir in top 3 of boxers of all time?

bare in mind that Tyson only lost to great fighters with the exceptyion of Buster Douglas (there was the long count & that Buster had just lost his mother & he would've given any heavyweight hell), where as Lennox,Vitaly & Wladamir were beaten & ko'd by less stellar opponents.

I understand what you are saying, but also understand this site is not only filled with casuals, and honestly you are starting to sound like a casual, it takes one to know one.

I agree with most of what you say here brother, but indeed Mike lost some fights at end of his career when obviously he was way past done, and they were against "not so great" people..Not arguing your point just clearing up a statement...

Tyson after prison was fighting no hopers.

Tyson is definitely a global superstar but the man isn't even top 5 of my heavyweight list. He is a bully if something fights him back he gets frustrated.

Mike fought Lenox Lewis, Evander (twice) , Razor Rud**** (twice) Frank Bruno, all after prison... Oliver McCall , most his name opponents came after prison....

early tyson had arrogant ''class''. i dont mind guys who are hyper confident if they can go out and back it up. he went out there and just destroyed the guys he fought. most times before laying a glove on them.

but they were bums. we all knew it. if it went past 3 rds, tyson was wanting to put in some rds.

once king got his claws into tyson, it was a wrap. the partying, the slacking off, believing the headlines.....

i dont rate him very high and if the hof were called hall of greatness, he wouldnt be able to buy a ticket.

You might want to read Mikes biography brother and hear it from him... Mike started slacking off right after Cus died... everyone tried to keep him medicated shortly after Cus died cause of it...

Here is another fact to throw into your assumption of Tyson... People say Mike continually fought bums... Well maybe in the beginning many were...but here is the deal...

Mike Tyson rarely "camped"..he fought on average 1.5 times per month over his first 16 months in the sport.. When Mike finished a fight, you allready knew who his next 1-2-3 ooponents scheduled were and they were within weeks of each other...

Mike used these "bums" to basically spar while getting paid for it. All while being a 18-19 year old kid working feverishly to get the experience as soon as possible so he could take on a world champion...

There are many many factors to Mike's career, especially early on.. to consider here.. Thats why its very important to know the complete picture, outside the W's and L's.... it runs much deeper for every boxer.. not a lot I have to admit I see being considered here when people comment on the guy...

also...at this stage of his career he had been putting on a set of gloves for about 3 years... maybe 4... in total...and he was beating guys with 12 inch reach and 6-7 inches in heighth with a ton more experience... and Cus didnt make it to alot of Mikes fights... It was Atlas who was there... in his corner..

ive heard how his managers (jacobs and clayton) knew that tysons reign would be brief. hard to think of any quality hw having problems beating the guys tyson beat.

one of my favorite fighters was tony ''the tiger (clever)'' ayala. he was a sick fnck. plenty of coke fiends in the 70-80. poverty stricken youths with no our way out. tyson is just the most famous.

Tyson and Ali were the most 'talented' heavyweights, but being the most talented and being the best are not the same thing. Some people just don't live up to their full potential and sometimes life just gets in the way.

Ali was forced out of the ring during his prime years because he didn't wana join the military, Tyson was framed for **** and had to go to jail, and then his mentor and trainer died. Shieet happened, and not regular shieet either, this was some other shieet, sabotage type-a shieet.

No, man, you can't even ask those questions because Lennox Lewis or Klitschkos weren't stars of the same magnitude and casual fans doesn't even praise them the way they praise Tyson, how you can praise some fighter that you're not even aware of? If I'll tell to some casual fans that Lennox Lewis was a bum I'll get no reaction because they don't care, they'll be like "Ok, so what?". If I say that Tyson is far from being top 3 of all time, they'll get emotional and nobody says he's not a great fighter because he is, just not a top 3 of all time. Not even top 20. Everytime when I see some school kid in the internet who only watches highlights boxing videos on Youtube saying that current fighters are bums and it's only about Ali, Tyson....and the rest of boxing world is garbage....this is exactly what I don't like with that Tyson's obsession. Okay, they can praise Tyson all the time, I don't care as long as they don't forget about other boxers with better resumes

Wins on the resume matters more than your losses. Boxers who you defeated matters more than boxers you lost your fights to. Considering that, there's tens of fighters who's better than Tyson but they doesn't get mentioned. And I don't talk about Klichkos. And yes Lewis has better resume and I've seen some boxing fans who HATE Lewis with passion only because he dared to KO Mike, like Lewis is some bum who only got lucky that night. That's just ******ed

When still undefeated, he WAS one of the most overrated fighters ever in boxing, but he ruined his legacy in the second half of his career. In rertrospect, he probably is even underrated a bit.
