Skillwise Tyson had no peer in ring with the slight exception of prime Lennox Lewis, MAYBE Gerry Cooney, MAYBE Larry Holmes. I'm talking skill - not finesse.
I think Tyson was a phenom in his day but his boxing ability was vastly lacking. Yes, he had some good wins but honestly his heavyweight run was not all that special. Tyson's boxing was way, way over rated but his entertainment was second to no one. Tyson was a train wreck and it was very entertaining lol
P.S. I don't think Tyson ****d that broad, at the time he could have had just about any woman he wanted easily.
These threads are always good for a laugh and created by someone searching for ppl to agree with ....lol
The fact is you CANT penalise Tyson on impossible match ups at HIS peak that weren't available to him. Under Rooney /Cus he never lost and beat top guys EASILY of that era who gave TOP 90's guys difficulties out of THEIR prime and even after Rooney early 90's .
Overated based on what ? What are you overating him on ? Are we looking for loop holes ? I challenge anyone on this forum to drop ANY HW name and we'll see what holes we compare .......................... Such foolishness i'll stop there .
People who say that Tyson isn't overrated I'm gonna put it this way ok stop it right there. lets change it around. How about if I ask these questions, People say Lennox, Vitaly, Wladamir isn't overated i'm gonna put it this way;
Is Lennox, Vitaly, Wladamir the best boxer since Ali?
Is Lennox, Vitaly, Wladamir in top 3 of boxers of all time?
bare in mind that Tyson only lost to great fighters with the exceptyion of Buster Douglas (there was the long count & that Buster had just lost his mother & he would've given any heavyweight hell), where as Lennox,Vitaly & Wladamir were beaten & ko'd by less stellar opponents.
I understand what you are saying, but also understand this site is not only filled with casuals, and honestly you are starting to sound like a casual, it takes one to know one.
It's Vitali and he only lost to one semi-lesser fighter and that was Byrd and as you well know he lost because he got injured in a fight he was pitching a shutout.
Lennox, Vitali and Wlad are all ranked higher than Tyson all time for good reason.
His resume may not be the best. But tyrell Biggs fought Tyson sand Lennox a and said Tyson was the best he fought physically.
So Tyson has argument for being the best ast something. So may be deserves top 15
Tyson was very skilled fighter ,he had short prime ,but he was beast in it,i wouldnt say his overrated as a fighter ,his just very famous person from his ring and outside of the ring life.
I agree with most of what you say here brother, but indeed Mike lost some fights at end of his career when obviously he was way past done, and they were against "not so great" people..Not arguing your point just clearing up a statement...
Thank s brother, but many great fighters lost to nobody's towards the end of their career. That don't count and you can't measure the careers when they're has been.
No. He isn't. One of the most destructive and SELF destructive fighters ever. Nobody claims Tyson to be a top 5 heavyweight. In his prime he could give anybody a run for their money tho. The Tyson that knocked out Michael Spinks/Marvis Frazier was a dangerous man. If he would have had Cus his whole career like Floyd Patterson did he may have ended up the best. He had the tools. He just needed the right motivator around.
