MMA & boxing are miles apart. The fact that you throw punches in both sports is the only thing they have in common. Some of the top UFC fighters are wrestlers/grapplers who took up "striking" 2 years prior to becoming world champion. Boxing is a different ball game. Also how much power does McGregor really have? The amount of one punch KO's you see in MMA is through the roof. Even Bisping who isn't regarded as someone as not a big ****er has 1 punch KO'd the middleweight champion. That would never happen in boxing. It's the tiny gloves.

I don't see how it is seen as a given that Connor has a punchers' chance. He most likely doesn't on any top boxer and on Floyd his chances are a legitimate zero unless Floyd suffers some sort of freak injury like David Haye did. Even then, I think Floyd could outbox what is to him a complete novice with one arm and one leg.

People tuning in doesn't mean any of them will be new boxing fans by watching. It's a spectacle and people will certainly be drawn to it, especially considering the build up will be insane with the personalities of the 2 guys.
