Many may disagree, but Spence is a modern day Ray Leonard without the flash. He has speed and power in both hands, skill, and is fundamentally sound. Lets see if he has Leonard's heart and chin. you all say hes not jeff lacy, but i bet when jeff lacy was fighting joe calzaghe people werent saying he was hype. in fact i know they werent, cause he was favourite and theres that legenderary boxingscene predictions article where youve got 'experts' saying lacy smashes calzaghe in two rounds and only a couple gave joe a chance. spence has proved nothing more than lacy did before he fought calzaghe, he could just as easily be exposed. Bundu, Barrera, Van Heerden. It actually surprised me how much he was getting hit. I watched them on silent because I didn't want to get distracted by hearing how great and dominant he was.

Now, that doesn't mean he's not a great talent. I've always said offensive fighters sacrifice defence when they are so aggressive (and I love his style). He's not built to have a great defence, just a serviceable one.

But I'd heard people saying he had a great defence, which I don't think he has - he has fast reflexes which sometimes lead to fast defensive manouvres (which look nice). But he puts so much into his punches, including the step-in jab), that a sharp-shooter like Brook might just be a major problem for him. In fact, I feel that Kell will win a decision, aided by a flash knockdown.

Spence employs hand/arm guards and slight head movement as defense in the past few fights because he knew his opponents wouldn't beat him to the KO.. His team explained that major head movements put your head in a position to be openly hit when ducking/weaving and removes the leverage from your counterpunches.. Spence hasn't shown his entire arsenal because it wasn't needed in his previous fights.. I'm sure if Spence couldn't take a solid punch on the chin and still come forward, Coach Derrick wouldn't employ that defense for Spence..

That's an interesting theory, I hadn't heard that before, though I'm not sure I fully buy it. He probably will be more responsible against Brook but that will slow down the pace, which will suit Kell.
