        Yes I am making excuses right now. GGG is 35 , too old , too slow. We have seen it in Jacobs fight. If this fight happened 2 years ago, Ggg would easily beat Canelo, like he beat Lemieux.

          Canelo and pound 4 pound should never be mentioned in the same sentence.
          Having said that , it will be a mute point because he is in for the beating of his life.
          A guy that has never fought a true middleweight, all of a sudden is going to beat the bogeyman of the division. Yeah right.
          Its one thing feasting on smaller past their prime fighters and human punching bags.
          Golovkin its a whole different story.
          The only way Canelo wins is if he makes it to the end of the fight on his feet. Then Oscar can use the bought up judges he keeps on his pocket.

            On the subject of P4P, Dan Rafael posted up ESPN's latest earlier.

            GGG was #1. Canelo #7.

            Out of the 8 ESPN guys asked , in their individual lists they had GGG ranked 1st by 5 guys, 2nd by 2 guys, 1 3rd and 1 5th. Atlas doesn't rank him.

            Canelo = 1 first, 1 2nd, 1 third and 1 4th. 2 had him ranked 7th, and 3 8th. One guy didn't rank him.

                Beating Amir Khan, Liam Smith, and Chavez Jr. doesn't shoot you all the way up to #1 even with Golovkin on your resume.

                  What if canelo wins convincingly and ward gets another controversial decision? Who you beat and how you beat them matters imo.

                    Agree with you on who you beat matters. Not so much as how because when you fight better opponents you tend not to win by KO or UD as clearly as when you fight lower level guys.

                    Would ESPN put an HBO fighter like Canelo at #1 in that scenario, probably. You know Carlos Narvaez and Joe Cortez would vote Canelo #1 since they have him at #1 and #2 respectively right now.

                    As for the other, more reputable lists I can't see it because Ward and Kov are ranked ahead of both Canelo and GGG.

But I would still say GGG owns Canelo even at his age.
                      no excuses ggg was 34 last year! Did he decline that much in one year? They both signed because they both believe they can win. Nothing else matters.
