Wasn't the thread starter the guy that said Golovkin has more shot selection? When questioned, he said he had more shot selection because he dropped more people with different shots and that's the only way to count shot selection.

nope. Jacobs didn't have a single winning stat the whole fight. and he was downed. the exact opposite was the case in ward vs kov.

i wouldn't say Canelo is more skilled than GGG.


GGG has more shot selection.

GGG has better footwork (Even last night, Chavez looked to have better legs, Canelo was following, not cutting etc)

GGG has better offense, period.

GGG even has better defense by the #'s.





Now keep in mind, all these stats are GGG fighting top 10 and champions at 160.



Canelo is going in over his head.

I don't know how anyone that has seen both fight can say Golovkin has more shot selection.

Show a right handed KD from body shots from Canelo.

Show me an uppercut KD from Canelo.

Show me a jab KD from Canelo.

every fighter can throw jabs, hooks, straights and uppercuts. but Deontay for example doesn't have a left hook.... cus it never drops anyone. he throws them tho. doesn't mean it's a good punch.

And hand speed and defense. Not just upper movement peep his hands they are picking shots off because he is very fundamentally sound. GGG has shyt defense and horrible head movement so he just eats shots. Canelo also better combination puncher. Also higher RING IQ, can set traps and make in fight adjustments. Get's hit WAYYYY less then GGG does despite fighting higher level opponents and fighting more rounds. GGG is a fastball pitcher. Sure he can hit the high 90's but when you face the best hitters they will adjust to your timing. Canelo has multiple pitches to keep a hitter guessing all night long.

P4P GGG is not even the most skilled fighter Canelo has faced. He's definitely the biggest/strongest guy. But Cotto, Lara, Floyd, Mosley, Khan, Trout are all technically more skilled then GGG. If he can't get Canelo out of there and this becomes a boxing skill match GGG is going to get outclassed for 12 rounds.

Canelo is harder to hit clean. Canelo is bit more complete a fighter I think but he's a little slow with his feet and he's dealing with an offensive force and a natural MW in Golovkin.

I'm leaning towards GGG winning.

neither does canelo he baits you with different speeds and where they come from how you think he knocked out Khan. Broke him to body and then set him up with a fake slow punch downstairs to force Khan to freeze/drop his hands then lightning fast right to the face no time to react. Canelo mixes it up he's just better and faster at it then GGG. GGG just hits harder but he's not as sharp, skilled or fast.

I honestly dont think that most canelo fans realize how skilled GGG really is. To the untrained eye he can seem basic but he is very skilled.
