Is Arthur Abraham the Best MW?

think of it like this: the "champ" jermain taylor has had two fights since last july when he won the title. abraham has had five fights since last july, 2 since he won the title in december.

taylor's only fought hopkins and soon winky, two of the best MWs in the world. abraham hasnt fought p4p fighters, but hes faced top contenders like gardner, eastman, ikeke, and jantuah.

taylor's next fight in june is against winky wright (a top 5 at least p4p fighter). abraham's next fight is against edison miranda (possibly the hardest hitting MW in the world today).

taylor's title winning fight is rather controversial. abraham's title winning fight ended in a 5th round TKO over the 6'4" ikeke.

taylor's fights with hopkins (his only two noteworthy fights to date) were very close decisions. all of abraham's noteworthy fights were won unquestionably won by abraham.

this is my position. abraham has done better and has done it more often than taylor has, but taylor has fought better fighters but not as often. i think people give too much credit to taylor for his wins over hopkins.

i think abraham is the better MW, but if taylor beats winky, he'll be the best. both fighters upcoming fights will tell alot about who the best MW is.

Hardly. Taylor is fighting a top 3 P4P fighter while Abraham is basically fighting a decent fighter, but with not much skill, just some raw power. There is no comparison to making him the best MW any way you slice it.

sure, taylors fighting the best fighters. but hes not exactly soundly beating them (them being only hopkins). abraham is dominating his opponents, and is fighting twice as much as taylor is.

there's a big difference between arguably between Bernard freaking Hopkins twice and fighting Winky Wright. Abraham is probably going to be a better MW but as of now, no he is not fighting the best competition even though he is fighting alot.

Couldnt of said it better myself! Your right on the target.
Abraham has started his pro career in late 2003. Hes beating up everyone hes fighting and all his fights have been won decisevly.

Abraham may be; but Taylor's the champ and if Abraham want's to prove he's the best, he's gonna have to fight the winner of Taylor-Wright. Paper belts aren't worth wiping asses with...if he wants to stake a claim, he needs to quit holding that worthless strap, and paying them sanctioning fees; and go after the real champ.

I don't know. All this hate for JT is clouding everyones judgment. Doesn't anyone remember the RAW kid fighting Eduardo, Joppy, and Marquez? He took on Bernard Hopkins twice and now he's taking on a good 154 lber. Give the guy a break.

I got no hate for JT, I just think he's a little raw, as he should be; but facing Hopkins twice and now Wright is gonna school him good. He should beat Winky, IMO; but he's not going to look good in that one either. Once he starts taking on guys like Abraham and the rest of teh top ten, he'll looke better. It's hard to look impressive against craftsmen like B-Hop and Winky.
