Comments Thread For: Pulev's Promoter Does Not Believe Anthony Joshua Will Vacate

Kalle Sauerland of Sauerland Event, who promotes IBF mandatory challenger Kubrat Pulev, does not believe Anthony Joshua will vacant his IBF heavyweight crown. The sanctioning body is now applying the pressure for Joshua to make a mandatory defense against Pulev. Last Saturday night, Joshua solidified his superstar status with an eleventh round knockout of Wladimir Klitschko before a record crowd of 90,000 fans at Wembley in London.

Pulev is an easy fight for Joshua. He doesn't posses the punching power of someone like Wilder, Ortiz and Wlad to really put him in trouble. Pulev is also very very slow of hand and feet, I don't know how he will be able to handle Joshua especially with his high guard. The Wlad fight took something out of Pulev, because he has looked terrible in every fight afterwords.

He won't vacate. He would be more likely to vacate the WBA if he had to and not fight Ortiz but WBA probably won't pressure him to fight Ortiz like the IBF do. Pulev is an easier fight and nobody in the UK really knows Pulev or Ortiz, so it makes very little difference which one he fights in terms of business. To be honest, 99% of his fans are "casuals", so it really makes no difference who any of his opponents are outside of the likes of Fury and Wlad.

Also, Hearn has already mentioned Pulev is his mandatory, but never mentioned the fact Ortiz is too.

It'll be a Wlad rematch or Pulev next.

        I agree.

The problem is getting Pulev into the ring without failing a drug test

I got this impression as well. Most likely Pulev. He gave an interview today w/ Under Armour that suggested he feels he has some things to work on. Mentioned starting intense cardio next week on Monday (for his body). Seems like he'll take the mando to fine tune some things.

Agreed. Pulev is a relevant HW and is a little underrated but he's still a very winnable fight for AJ. I don't see any reason for them to dodge him. Ortiz on the other hand, no one is eager to fight him or will even mention the man's name. High risk, low reward, but a mando none the less.

He might aswell fight Pulev just to get the mandatory out of the way. He will stop him within 4 rounds.

After he can set up the big fights with Fury/Parker/Wilder

Why can't the IBF be like the WBC. 2 and a half years and your boy wilder still hasn't fought a single mandatory

Pulev is a joke fight. Wlad knocked him out easily, how can the IBF insist on this guy?
