Fun fact about that ref that's the same ref who almost DQ'ed Khan for pushing..... so pushing is a no no but rabbit punches are accepted....

Edit: Also docked Colon 2 points for low blowing but holding a guy down and punching him in the back of the head is 1 point......

i would love to watch these lazy refs in the ring against guys like maidana and kkovalev who are known to throw rabbit punches all 12 rounds.... I wanna see these refs take some rabbit punches themselves then get back to refing fights... That is the only way these dumb asses will learn

No one forced this guy to go back out there. He, and his corner, are plenty capable of making the decision to stop the fight.
I agree that his corner should've stopped it if the ref and the doctor weren't going to but most fighters don't want to quit, regardless of the possible consequences and need to be saved from themselves.
The fact of the matter is the excessive punches to the back of the head of Colon, which could have been prevented, ultimately lead to his current state. The ref was responsible for upholding the rules and more importantly, the safety of the boxers.
The doctor also should have been able to use his own professional discretion to stop the fight given Colon told him he felt dizzy while taking punches to the back of the head and complaining to the ref about it.
You may not care what happens to such boxers but they're already risking their lives in the ring. As dangerous as it is already, it's pro boxing not a street fight.
Nobody who appreciates the sport and has respect for the boxers competing wants to see its participants dead or in a coma.

I think this family is getting bad legal advice. Why would you sue the promoters? The promoter would seem to be one of the least involved when something happens in the ring. I mean sh^t once the show starts is kinda when the promoters job is done. Its the commissions party from there.

Randomly I bet DiBella is freaking the f#ck out. F#cking DiBella could nearly give himself a heart attack for just freaking out about having to park his car too far away from where he's trying to go to.

And idk why you'd sue the doctor specifically either.

Go after the ******ia state commission. They're the one with the money I'd assume...that good government money.

Do you really think you are entitled to FIFTY MILLION DOLLARS for this!?!? The audacity of some people smh. Nobody is at fault here. But why not sue his own corner instead? He was complaining about being dizzy and they continued to let him fight. They should have been the ones to stop it. Look at Brook and Ingle in the Golovkin fight. That's a great example of a trainer looking out for his fighter. Its a horrible situation but come on you are not entitles to 50 million dollars. A couple million at the very most... IF THAT.

How in the world can the promoters be responsible? They just arrange a fight between two willing opponents in accordance with the laws of the state. How the fight is handled, inside the ring and immediately afterwards is where the blame game can lie. Still, I am not even sure how they can recoup anything.

I also want to say that placing 50,000 or a 100,000 insurance policy for fighters is not enough. There should be a payout premium capable of a couple million dollars. Pay more and get the proper insurance. All jurisdictions should follow NY and force promoters to pay for higher levels of insurance.
