The 50 million is probably symbolic and they're not realistically expecting to get that. It's a promising young man's life we're talking about, of course the family who will have this pain and burden upon them for the rest of his life will want to be paid damages.
In a perfect world the referee and Terrell Williams would be punished for what happened but it's unlikely. I'm not so sure about the doctor, but the biggest fault should be placed on the referee who barely did anything to protect Colon from the dangerous illegal tactics. And Williams seems like a sociopath altogether. I see that creep hasn't fought since then either, is he retired?
