I know it sounds cold, but it has been a year and he hasn't shown any improvement. Is there a way for the family to legally put him down? They might want to consider that. It would save them a lot of money and probably heartache. But the reality is that he's not going to improve and I imagine the legal bills are piling up.

adults who freely and knowingly participate in contact sports (AND get paid for it) shouldnt be able to sue anyone if they get fncked up. unless obvious malfeasance is the cause (a ref lets a guy pound on a defenseless guy or if a doctor ignores obvious signs of defect).

it sucks and its a tragedy but thats the nature of the beast.
