So is Canelo a big star? Yes in Mexico. And among mexican americans in the US.

No in Europe and Asia. Not at all. He's a zero.

The same thing goes for Joshua, in reverse. But Joshua, unlike Canelo, has a story: He beat a legend in dramatic style.

Canelo did nothing. Maybe he will fight Glolovkin and do something. This would help.

But right now he did nothing except be a cute looking Mexican who looks Irish and get outclassed by a legend. He doesn't have a story except being Mexican.

Bigger upside resides with Joshua, who fights the best and beats them.
If he was ONLY big among spanish speakers then how did he draw 2.2m to watch him fight bum Kirkland live on HBO? His fights air on free tv in Mexico but in the US you have to pay for it and it's not just spanish speaking people that will be paying for it. I live on the East Cost where I can't even find a Mexican and yet it's showing in my local movie theater and bars everywhere filled with NON Mexicans. And Joshua is only big in the UK we don't have to guess about it only 600k viewers in the US watched him fight live in the biggest fight of his career. He can set records out in the UK and that's great but the money is in the US and until he's known in the US and fighting in the US his fights will generate a fraction of the money Canelo fights generate.

Again this Joshua fights the best crap? FACT Canelo has fought more world champs, more top ranked fighters, more HOFers and more top P4P ranked fighters and Canelo is YOUNGER then Joshua. Joshua fought nothing but bums before he finally faced a washed up Klitcho who is coming off a loss to Fury and a terrible showing against Jennings who Ortiz easily destroyed. Klitch is not the best HW. Canelo has already faced and beat much better fighters that's not even a debate.

Canelo has no story. What, vaguely outpointing an overage, undersized Cotto? Vaguely outpointing Lara, Trout? Please. Being cat-pawed around by Floyd, probably not winning a round?

Joshua got off the canvas to blow away a legend of the sport. A dramatic, brilliant win.

Canelo has no story. You say he defeated belt holders and champions. No he didn't. Not a real victory in the whole mix. He did nothing.

Yes I know he's been foisted upon us as a star. But his fans are his people who will root for him against cartoon characters and frauds because he's on their team, but he did nothing, ever. He has no story.

Kirkland was free to air not PPV and the only fighter that Canelo has fought who was in Klit's class was Floyd and he was embarrassed

Again I live on the EAST COAST I don't live around any of his people. The Mexican population in my city and state is basically non existent. Yet every time he fights the bars show his fight and they are full with NON Mexicans. Getting put on your azz to beat a 41 year old HW who ALREADY lost easily to Fury is him fighting and beating the best? Nobody had Wlad as the best HW at the time Joshua fought him. Again facts Canelo has a much better resume and better wins no matter how you want to frame or what category you want to judge fighters Canelo has beaten higher quality opponents.

Bringing up vague BS like well he just has a better story because every tangible stat stays Caenlo is the bigger star and generates far more money every time he fights. Again Joshua didn't even generate more money then Canelo did when he fought Khan. There are tons of mexicans including Chavez Jr who hasn't done what Canelo has done so there has to be something more then he is just Mexican. Marquez was Mexican how come he didn't fill Football stadiums and draw like Canelo does?

Canelo/Kirkland and Joshua/Klitcho were both on premium cable. One fight drew 2.2m viewers the other drew 600k. And kirkland was a tune up fight. Cotto is a much better win then 41 year old Klitchko who was coming off a dominating loss by Fury and was no longer world champ. Joshua got dropped and had to fight tooth and nail to beat a washup up Klitcho.

Will be? I think Joshua proved he is that guy last week, canelo is only relevant in the Mexican community.

If you can't see that Joshua is potentially the future of the sport due to cross-over appeal (of which Canelo has virtually none) then you're blind

Canelo has no cross over appeal yet he might draw 1m PPV buys (big boy PPVs that cost 70 bucks) on saturday and is in commericals with stallone that air on NON sports channels? Joshua is ONLY a draw in the UK in fights that make a fraction of the money that is made when Canelo fights. They are both HUGE in their own countries Canelo drawing 18m to watch his fights on Mexican TV against nobodies like Smith. And Joshua does great numbers in the UK. The difference is canelo is also huge in the US too while Joshua is not.

Where are you getting this fraction of the money from? The live gate was bigger for Joshua/Klitschko than Canelo/Khan, their purses were bigger. Final numbers aint come out yet, dont know where youre getting "fractions" from

This right here! I don't know where this delusion is coming from that AJ has been facing better opposition than Canelo.

Dude is 27 years old, 28 when he fights again, 19 fights and has only faced ONE HOF fighter, a 41 year old coming off a loss, 18 month layoff, washed up, hasn't looked the same since his trainer passed away, former champion.
