I think the '£1.5 million' was an error and they meant to just put 1.5 million as other media sources have had the figure without the pound sign. Otherwise that's 75,000 ppv buys which just isn't realistic at all.

Maybe they'll release them if they're record breaking. Eddie will probably know what the rough figure is.
No point in arguing with someone who didnt take two minutes to decipher what £1.5 million divided by £20 is and then realise it was a completely irrational stance to argue.

Using that logic, more people watched it in the stadium than bought it at home

That privilege is reserved for the attendance figures of foreign cards boxnation put on in contrast to their active subscription base in the UK.

UFC is SOOOOO 2016. McGregor will probably never fight in the UFC again and Ronda is toast. It's Boxing's time again.

On top of al that, as far as I know, Sky have never released PPV figures and until it comes from them, there is no reason to ever believe what Hearn has to say.
It seems like the usage of £ was in error from my take of the article. That said how much trust can you put in a article that misuses a £ in front of a number that doesn't need a £ so there's that angle to.

I got lil doubt this fight did extremely well doe so whatever the real number is I'm sure its nice. I wouldn't be at all shocked if it did break the record.

But I think its too soon to know anything for sure yet & even then as SS is saying there is always the problem of no 3rd party is really verifying if numbers are legit or not so PPV numbers are always debatable to some degree.

WHy would I be angry? I'm simply stating the truth/facts. If theer's a newspaper...if we can call the metro that, and it is getting something as simple as 1.5 million buys and £1.5 million wrong, then I would not put much trust in their reporting.

Maybe Sky will release figures, who knows but until then, no one knows what the real numbers were.

I was going to start being harsh to him and rip his post apart like he tried to do but I decided against it and just put that comment as a nice reply aha.

But yeah, it was obvious to anyone that uses a logical approach to thinking that £1.5 mill wasn't at all correct

              yep yep yep

And no doubt, the fight was popular, every sports fan watched it and many non sports fans too but I also know A LOT of people who simply streamed it or downloaded it from various sources...ahem, the next day.

Either way, AJ made a career high payday and Wlad got the big bucks as he has done for a long, long time.

I hope so. I'm not rooting against boxing but right now it is dead here.

Combat sports are in a slump as well. All across the board now.

NBA and NHL playoffs. Then it is NFL season

Im simplistic terms, UK averages a purchase rate of 500K for good PPVs, out of a population of 65M people, for a buy rate of 0.77%. If US produces a similar buy rate, it would sell 2.4M PPVs (324m*0.0077).
                  Solid points.

And I definitely think the US could reach more of a mainstream appeal by lowering PPV prices. I even think an a la carte PPV option (1 fight or all the fights) would do wonders for that market place cuz most casuals care about 1 fight not the 3-5 that are typically on a PPV.

I live in the US. I don't think it's accurate to say boxing is "dead" in the US. The PBC and Showtime ratings thus far this year have been very solid. It's not at NFL/NBA level but those are both juggernauts. I think with appropriate expectations I think you can say boxing is more healthy in the US than it has been in years..

I think online PPVs priced a little cheaper would really help. Something you could order though Netflix or Hulu. Boxing needs to get with the times.
